We are done rehabbing the kitchen cabinets! This project started 5 weeks ago. We mainly worked on it during the weekends. We started with a budget of 350.00 but after deciding to add a new stove hood and a couple of other items that cost a bit more than anticipated the final cost was around 600.00. The lattice up over the cabinets is a temporary fix to hide the lighting up there until we decide what to do for new lighting.
If anyone needs advice on how to paint wood laminate cabinets we are now experts.
We are thrilled with the new look! It is so much brighter in here, and the light color of the cabinets makes the kitchen look bigger! The detail painted in the grooves of the cabinet doors match the accent wall and pantry door. We cleaned out a lot of old dishes, coffee cups, wine glasses etc. from the cabinets that went to Faith Farm and we can now get our everyday coffee mugs and wine glasses in the cabinets (they used to sit out on the counter because we had no room). We also made a few space saving changes such as adding some lazy susan trays for our spices and racks on the inside of the doors for baggies, aluminum foil, wax paper etc.
