Hi....These are pics of our hearthroom/kitchen area. The area is pretty small and I am design challenged. I don't have much room so I can only buy things that I really love or that are cheap enough for me to re-do and get rid of when i get tired of it, therefore I find myself not doing either. I have tried a couch in front of the fireplace but it was too large and i have tried a couch in front of the windows and table/chairs in front of the fireplace. The couch covered too much of the view of our water feature in the backyard. Shoud I do a loveseat?? I am not married to the table and chairs. I could paint or replace?? My husband did the beautiful stone work on the fireplace which I love and I painted the walls and built-ins recently and am pleased with the colors. I would love your suggestions?? Thank you so much.

It's hard to tell how large the space is but if you could fit two identical love seats facing each other with a coffee table in between them you could use the space for several people. If you can't fit that, maybe two chairs and some ottomans for extra seating. It's a very pretty space. Good luck.

My own impulse here is to start with a large area rug that you really love in front of the fireplace. Then, find two comfortable reading/lounging upholstered chairs to place in front of the fireplace, with either an end table between them, or a smallish coffee table in front of them. The space could be finished off with some floor length drapes on that window, and also on the windows at the dining table. Good luck and repost when you're ready.
