We have a smaller kitchen, 11 x 10 that was closed off. The space was opened up by taking a non-load bearing wall down and adding continuous laminate flooring. A sink base was used to create a peninsula with two panels of aspen wood for the counter. All our old cabinets were used, just cleaned and painted. All appliances were updated to match the stove which was bought earlier this year. Faux brick was removed (original to the home and glass tile was added. A basic counter replaced the old one. Topping off the remodel was a large pantry that replaced a small cabinet and a portable dishwasher. All in all, the storage space is four times more and the counter space at least three times more. The lighting has dramatically changed as well by removing the thin wall.
