It's free and easy.
Our old galley kitchen lacked counter space, storage and room to move around. We knocked out the wall between the kitchen and dining room to create a large eat-in kitchen. In keeping with the historic elements of our home, we chose classic style cabinetry, soapstone counter top, and cupboard latches. Walnut island created to look like furniture is topped with Calcutta marble to house a cook top and hides a pop up venting system.
We updated the space with SS appliances, chrome finishes and lots of recessed lighting.
Our personalities were added with modern crystal pendants [bling for me!] and chrome and leather stools [for the hubby]. The random width mosaic marble tile back splash pulls it together.
To save money, husband installed wiring and lighting, cabinets, back splash, baseboards and crown molding. The hardware was found in outlets, the appliances at 'scratch and dent' outlets, discounted countertops and lighting.
