We bought this smaller home, 1250 sq feet, in WV. The 2nd and 3rd pictures are the before shots. The LR and kitchen were all one space with a vaulted ceiling. I hated it. It had some stinky Berber carpeting and the countertops and cabinets were made out of old hardwood floors. I designed a wall (will be posting pics of the living room changes in another post to separate the 2 rooms. The opening going into the master bdrm was closed off to give me more wall space in the kitchen. If I had not done that, the width would have been only 8 feet instead of the now 11. I used Ikea cabinets and bought 4 of their "bookcases" which look more like china cabinets to me, for storing china, as well as my pantry goods. Since they are not super deep, it helps with the open look. I have the open shelves which I love. Now when I cook, everyone just grabs their plate off the shelf, then opening the drawer right below to grab their silverware. It is still not finished. Some custom cutting still needs to be done with the glass tiles, then grouting. I have ordered a custom made clock that is 30" round for above the left shelves where the open space is. It is aqua and beige, On the right side, I had a door installed to bring more light into the kitchen and a bigger kitchen window, that still needs to be finished with mudding, etc. I have more decorating touches that need to be done, but I am very happy with how it is going on a limited budget.

Excellent! I love these colors. The tile work is just the right amount of color to make it pop. I love how you used the white to make a dramatic contrast with your accent color.

Many MANY thanks to all of you! Rundown on where I bought things at. Flooring came from builddirect.com nd cost only about 1600.00 for the entire house except for the one hall bath that I have black and white tile in. So, about 1200 sq feet worth. The turquoise glass tiles came from www.glasstilefactory.com and I do not remember how much I ordered, but to do that wall, and also the wall by the sink (not shown yet came to about 300.00. All cabinets, shelves, pot rack came from Ikea. Rugs came from Crate and Barrel. Most of the plates and bowls also came from Ikea. They have some of the BEST cookware too. The counter tops are called Pragel faux marble, from Ikea and cost 59.00 for 6 feet worth. Everything is so inexpensive there. So, not counting the appliances, I spent maybe about 2500.00 ?

Wow! Thank you so much for the compliment! Not having a whole lot of money to spend narrows down things for me on where I have to shop. Ikea has some beautiful things for pennies really. The rugs were from Crate and Barrel. The only thing that really cost the most were the appliances, but they are worth every penny. That is a double oven that is freestanding. The bottom part holds a 25 pound bird and 2 casserole dishes. The top holds 2-3 dishes depending on the sizes.It is from GE.
