I would recommend a plain subway tile in a cream/almond color - something that works well with your granite. Add in a row around the middle of black glass tile for accent. The glass will be just enough to jazz it up a little and create interest, but it will be simple enough that it would compete with your granite.

i don't recommend a backsplash in any "theme." that's not something that changes so easily. I'd go with some shades of tans, grays and golds in the glass rectangle style. not good on the terminology but that may be the subway they refer too. avoid tin also. that would cheapen the rich look of the kitchen.

How about marble subway tiles with maybe a contrasting thin tile in a darker color to pick up the dark color in the counter?

I noticed the deco above your window. You may want to use plain tiles and add a few scattered in to go with the wine & glass theme. Very nice kitchen

I noticed the wine bottle & glasses above your sink. You could get fairly plain tiles and add some deco tiles that would carry the same theme.
