  • Help! We have more doors than feet of counter space!!, We bought this house almost a year ago and have done a lot to the house but are at a loss when it comes to how to make the kitchen workable. It's about 12'x12' and includes 5 doors (living room, family room, basement, bathroom/pantry -- that's right! half bath/half pantry -- and a door to the backyard that includes a disgusting mudroom-type thing). We literally have about two square feet of countertop, three drawers and we had to take the sliding doors off the cabinets because not only would our dishes not fit in them, but you could only see half the cabinet at a time. I put down cheap vinyl squares over the original wall-to-wall vinyl to cover the nastiness of the floor -- but this is a temporary measure until we decide what to do with the space., Kitchens Design

  • A "NOT" kitchen with 80's pink tile floor & orange oak cabinets, The space is sunny and large with a bayed breakfast area and nice Southern exposure...but it needs to be opened to the DR or LR to loose the soffits & 80's finishes and to add lighting (only 1 center fixture). The rest of the townhome is contemporary and in an urban area so this space is sooo "ready" for a facelift!, Kitchens Design

  • Kitchen with too many exits!!, Our kitchen is a great size 13x14 . . . however there's no useable space since there is a back door, bathroom door, basement door, dining room entry way, and two long windows making having counter space nearly impossible. The cabinets are VERY outdated but came with the house. We need HELP!, Kitchens Design

  • Galley kitchen/dining that lacks pizzazz and bold colors., My galley kitchen limits decorating; new floor that I love but can't make decisions on new counters to help make the room feel complete and welcoming. The cluttered kitchen table has been moved to the living room so the clutter is minimized in the kitchen for the seldom guests that visit. Even computer has been moved to spare bedroom so less dust from dog traffic. But clutter still exists., Kitchens Design

  • Needs to be gutted and remodelled, We have painted the cabinets white and removed the apple wallpaper trim. The oven was a mouse hotel so we took it out and replaced it with a part of the kitchen island. We would like to knock out the wall joining the living room and have a nice space for entertaining. , Kitchens Design

  • Sally's Small Kitchen, The kitchen table is out for eating. The table takes up a large portion of the kitchen, and it is a compact table. The dsink is in an awkward space. My kitchen is a kitchen built for one, not a husband and wife with 4 children their spouses, and 8 grandchildren. My kitchen is something from the 70's era. There is no counter space to prepare for the big meakls I cook on a regular basis especially the holidays when I have lots of company. I have to substitute the kitchen table for counter space and storage of groceries, this leaves miting the counter space. The microwave is on the counter because a useless cabinet over the the stove is to low for the microwave to be hung there. I have pots, pans, dishes, utensils, paper goods, and groceries in closets all over the house because of the lack of space. My daughter got hit in the head with a pan that fell from the coat closet when she went to get her coat. So, I no longer stuff coats in that closet. I really need help with my dire situation. A kitchen make-over would improve my quality of life. I know that sounds dire, but the situation is DIRE!, Kitchens Design

  • Too creepy for comfort basement!, We have a full basement that at the moment is unusable. We are a blended family with two boys ages 11 and 14 that won't go down there to watch TV, play video games, or any of their game tables. They say it's way to creepy down there, and this I have to agree. We have made lots of changes to the upstairs of the home, but have ran out of steam on the basement. We are also trying to have a baby and Mom is in school. What a mess!! Can someone please spread some Angel dust on this basement instead of the cobwebs and bring harmony into our crazy lives? , Basements Design
