It's free and easy.
For his house in the Hollywood Hills, I rearranged my friend's lovely things to better effect. The entire house was builder's beige, so I enlivened the beige by adding white stripes. The black window frames suggested black accent walls here and there. The red brick fireplace also went black. The white couch, which was too big for the bedroom, was relocated. The mosaic coffee table was in storage, and the enameled steel desk was against the wall under the elephant mirror. I found the matching elephant console in the dining room, so I reunited the set and accented them with the wrought iron lamps, and floated the desk. I picked up the black and white scheme with a cheetah print pony hide seat on the rummage sale desk chair. The art deco tables flanking the fireplace are consignment shop finds. The soji screen hides an awkwardly placed window while still admitting light. The floating shelves and bronze floor lamps are Ikea.
