I agree with the suggestions to remove the front awnings, but keep that precious screen door and the side awnings. That's a classic you can never replace. I love that stonework around the front door, too. I agree with you to get rid of those bushes because their hiding the front of that cute house. You just need some low box hedges planted under the two front windows, with some pretty colorful flowers in front. I would also remove the chain link fence around the front yard. To me it says "old lady who doesn't want people in her yard." Instead I would dig two planting beds for flowers at the front of the yard, one on either side of the sidewalk and then continue them up the sides of the sidewalk to the front door.

It is a cute house, but unfortunately, whatever you do won't have much impact if you leave that chain link fence up. Chain link fences are very ugly and only belong on construction sites. That would be the first thing to do. Remove the fence and put a white picket fence up at least in the front of the yard. I also love the screen door so I'd keep that. Also, those overgrown bushes can be trimmed considerably into what would look like bonsai hedges. I'd try to keep them and have them professionally trimmed by someone reputable who knows how to shape bushes. I"m not sure about the shutters. I might remove them from just the windows to allow more light in the house, but keep the one over the stoop.

What a cute home. I would take down the awnings and repaint around the windows. Also paint the front door but I really like the vintage screen door. Once you remove all the shrubs and replant and mulch it will look great. I have always wanted a place that has a fence around it so my dog could run around the entire yard. It's really going to look awesome. Oh yea and you can paint the concrete a darker gray if you like on the porch and walkways.
