This is my daughter Annie Rae's nursery. She was born in May of 2011 and I wanted a super femme antique feeling space for her. I love old vintage finds and incorperated them with furniture I found on craigslist to create a one of a kind space for my baby girl.

I designed a timeless nursery that my little angel can grow with. It's not too babyish nor too grown up, it embodies elegance, grace and femininity. I hope you will enjoy looking at the nursery as much as I enjoyed creating it.

This peaceful gray, yellow and white nursery was created for my daughter Avery. Aside from the furniture, the majority of the work is DIY or repurposed. For more detailed information please go to http://thedomesticproject.blogspot.ca/2012/03/averys-nursery.html .

I am a lover of contemporary living. Ever since I thought of making our daughter's nursery I was looking for something that looks modern and contemporary. After my rigorous research I finally settled down to "Gray and Yellow" theme, Gray was to give the room that elegance and Yellow was to diffuse that freshness and incandescence for a girl's room. I loved how the combination was vivid as well as graceful.
However, I wanted to keep a balance between splurging for the nursery and 'thinking too much'. I think I was able to get to it finally!
I got my inspiration from all the beautiful projects that have been submitted already. I had previously done my son's room, and I also wanted Ayana's room to be as pretty as she herself is.

When we started the room we knew we wanted colors and furniture that would grow with Charlee. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoy the room.

This is the nursery for our soon-to-be adopted newborn son Silas. It was a labor of love to decorate and was done on a very small budget. The room is about 100 sf so we had to get creative with space planning! We used paint and the addition of stipes as an inexpensive way to transform the room. We thought the stripes would give the room movement and make the space feel bigger. We welcome any comments on how to enhance the space.

I saw bedding that I loved and was unable to purchase it anywhere. So I recreated it with my own personal touches and designed the whole room around this Rock Star theme. I made the lamps and bedding and tried to make everything personal.

My dad put up the white wainscotting. My mom and I made the curtains and recovered the rocking chair, which was a hand-me-down from my parents. My grandfather made the changing unit based on a design from pottery barn kids. I made all the pillows and we ordered the vinyl decals online.

We were so excited when we found out we were having a boy! I'm really not into the traditional baby blue thing and I wanted to stray from the traditional color palette, so I chose orange, grey, and brown. It was also important that the nursery was one of a kind and super unique so we did a lot of refinishing and creative thinking.
We are really excited about our nursery design the only furniture that was bought new was the crib, polar bear rocker, and glider everything else was refurbished or hand-made.
The dresser is one of my favorites it was an antique find from Good Will. My husband cleaned it up and fixed the broken parts. The changing table on top was a hand-me-down which we repainted and attached to the top of the dresser. Because the changing table was not a standard size we ordered a custom pad and cover.
The grey diaper caddy on the side is great; it holds a fair amount of diapers and has a little place for the wipes.
The orange book shelf was a 50 dollar treasure from an antique store! It was in pretty rough shape so we sanded it down, added a few coats of paint and distressed the wood. I love it! The orange baskets were on sale at Hobby Lobby.
The hanging book shelves we constructed out of wooden palates that we picked up from a warehouse. My husband built them using DIY instructions from the internet. Then we stained them to match the bottom of the crib and the dresser. I really like these shelves because I don't have to worry about heavy books slipping off them and bopping the baby on the head.
The dog prints behind the crib, are special to me. I found three silhouettes that looked similar to our three favorite furry friends (our dogs. I then had friends of ours that own a print shop print and stretch the canvas around a frame. Oh and a wonderful designer at Alphagraphics printing made sure the colors and silhouettes looked just perfect before sending them off to print. You can find canvas printers on-line and customize your prints too.
Some of the art hanging behind the orange storage shelf is very special to us. The horse and the bird where both painted my husbands late Grandfather. We duplicated the pictures at a local print shop. I love mix and match frames so I went to Michael's and picked through the sale frames.
The pinwheel mobile we hand-made out of some fun scrap book paper and wooden dowels. There is tons of DIY pinwheel mobile instruction on-line. It cost only 5 dollars and took about 20 minutes to make.
With the help of my interior designer friend we used a gray and pink palate for Lily's nursery with pops of green. My husband installed wainscoting to accent the darker gray walls. The bedding was handmade as well as the curtains with matching fabric from etsy. The dresser was a hand-me-down in good condition so we decided to go with the lighter color wood for the rocking chair and crib. We wanted the room to be able to grow with Lily and be appropriate for her as a baby too.
