  • Handmade Holiday Musical Theme Wreath , I wanted something that looked like it was made decades ago. This wreath started life as two of my husband's handmade yearly grapevine wreaths to which I added vintage Christmas toy brass drums and horns found over the years at thrift stores. I remembered these as being sold at Cost Plus and Akron in the early 1960's. Next, I wove musical note ribbons, and faux fruit garlands from Michael's. Happy Holidays!, Holidays Design

  • EZ Garden Update, The quickest and easiest way I have found to add color to our garden is with container gardening. Color pops in pots, in various sizes, play peek-a-boo amongst our landscaped greens. I wanted our town home front to be more individualized than the others, so I chose to use rocks vs. the community mulch. I arranged two types of rocks [salt & paper marble chip and red lava] in a curved pattern to have an organic element breaking the straight edges seen from all the pavers. The stones add texture and are less of a mess than the red mulch - which when it rains, splatters on the base of homes and causes stains. Using containers has helped personalize our curb appeal. It's also a great way to take the colors from inside - out. This years colors of pinks & greens really pop against the Ebony wood-stain freshly painted pots. The Spring garden was finished off with an updated [4 yr. old] wreath I hung on the door for Easter. More details are available on my blog at http://nyclq-focalpoint.blogspot.com, Gardens Design

  • Creating a Fall Mantel that is a little Rustic but still Elegant, I've created this display on my mantel to show that it is possible to mix items that are considered rustic like pinecones and a antiqued pumpkin with glittery leaves and a glass mosaic pumpkin. Using the burnt oranges, golden yellows, and rusty reds of fall, a display can look cohesive if done correctly. Everyday objects like vintage baskets and metal lanterns turn into fall decorations when combined with some leaves and berries. One of the secrets to this look is using different textures and putting the decorations on different levels. Even the mirror has been used to showoff a beautiful wreath. I love that all the things that I love can be combined into one display and look complete!, Holidays Design

  • Skating Circles around Christmas!, I loved making this wreath. I recently recovered (and am recovering) from a very serious ailment....and this is one of my first projects since feeling healthy. It was simple but turned out both beautiful and FUN! The skates were a goodwill find, I keep the grapevine wreath as a base for my seasonal wreaths, the garland and pinecones were 'natures additions'. Because of my recovery, my partner and I were married while on a work trip in Hawaii in October - and Im blessed to make our first 'married wreath", Holidays Design
