What a great idea! I have been contemplating taking the easel out of the room because it really doesn't go with the rest of the room...but she is still young enough that she really does use it. Painting the frame black just might solve that problem!

I am planning to add a headboard, but I can't decide whether to go with white to match the rest of the furniture...or black, so it stands out a bit. If anyone has any ideas on that, I would really appreciate it!

I think this is great! Have you considered painting the wooden part of the easel (the frame black? I think it would make it really seem part of the room, and look great!
