  • Does my contemporary living room need help?, This is a 26X 30 living space with 20 ft ceilings in some places. A contemporary setting with a unique gas fireplace centering the mantel area. The mantel is the focal point of this large living room. Colors are stark contrast and base colors. I can't decide whether to leave it as it is or give it a boost with color or marble or art.   • Americana Log Cabin - Simplify, This is the small living / kitchen (since it's all one space) area in my vacation home - which is a log cabin. I didn't want to do the typical "north woods, pine trees, moose, bears, red/black hunting plaids" that are associated with log cabins. I went with an Americana Country theme - inspired by the hand painted American flag over the vanity upstairs. Budget decorating at it's best! 95% of this stuff is second hand and I paid very little for it. The coffee table belonged to my husband's late grandfather - it was made and purchased in upstate New York a long time ago. Oh and since these photos were taken I have put a 6x9ish blue/tan/cream oval braided rug under the coffee table. I covers the majority of the floor between the love seat / fire place / sofa and covers the giant scratch for the time being. The floor needs to be refinished. Any suggestions for anything else? I don't really want to add a lot of stuff, because it's a vacation home and I don't want to spend a lot of time cleaning each time I'm there :-) , Living Rooms Design

I finally created a screen door that could fit over it and now when it is burning, it looks much more like a wood burning fireplace.   • Renovated basement family room, We reno'd our basement last year. Just when it was done and furniture delivered it flooded. Carpet needs to be replaced -- we have Berber but I hate it on the stairs. Recommendations for carpet that hides stains works on stairs etc.? (is there such an animal?)   • warm living room, small...i need to do something with this space i need to do something with the shelf above the wall i was also thinking of taking the mirror down and replacing with a collage of photos and sconces or something? advice needed: is silk greenery tacky? we have a matching coffee table all my furniture has been moved according to my son's climbing habits etc. i like country blues greens and obviously neutrals antiques and tradition please help with any advice, Living Rooms Design
