  • Sloped Garden (Zone 8), This is my front yard. A water easement beneath the side garden gives it a slope that is difficult to work with. I planted two junipers and three boxwoods; three sets of red tulips are planted there as well. There are two huge bushes out front that hide the house from the street. I want to pull them up but wouldn't know what else to put there. I have a palm tree in front of the house, which I like because it's unique, a hydrangea and a rhodedendron bush. Four rose species flank the entry steps and porch., Gardens Design

  • HUGE Garden...but needs a lot of work, So I recently moved into a house to find that a disease is spreading and taking down all my austrian pines. I probably have 20 or trees. I've already taken a few down and replaced them with Colorado Blue Spruces...2 have died so far. Attached are pics. My plan was to take down ALL the trees cause the disease is spreading to the other trees. I have contacted several tree experts and spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars over the last 2 years and I can't seem to save 1. What trees do you recommend? Attached is my layout. FWIW, I plan on getting rid of the new Colorado spruces too...I'm in need of a major redesign and don't want to spend much (couple thousand) at the most., Gardens Design

  • Condo Courtyard in need of Advice, and I welcome it!, I have a great little courtyard at my 70's built condo -- but, it's in need of attention. I have a Japanese Maple and a Lilac tree -- both, which I love. I put down some river rock, but you can see that it is boring. I want to replace my patio (cracking), and the walkway. Any ideas? Other then pot the usual annual planters that I do, I'd like to find a way to make this coutyard, which is the entry when one arrives a my place, more appealing -- thanks!, Gardens Design

  • This is not vintage!, I moved into my now husband's home and this is my first summer here! I'd like to re-design the entrance and front of our home to better reflect my updated style! I am looking for ideas to re-do the pathway to the beautiful deck my husband built for us. Any ideas to transition the pathway and the other side of our deck to the flower bed where I have been successful at gardening! Thanks for your ideas! We are ready for a fun "newlywed" project! , Gardens Design
