Hello. Thank you for the info. It was kind of you to take the time to respond. In answer to your question about the Daphne, this one is for milder climates. It does well in 7-9. We have another that looks very similar,and is much hardier. It can go from 5-9. It often blooms twice,once in Spring and then again in Fall. I think it is "Transatlantica". I find that I lose them if the soil or mulch gets too close to the base. They are temperamental and expensive, but so worth it!!!

Hi Blondegardener! I was so happy to receive a comment from you today : I am glad things are moving along with your new home in Tampa.

The space behind my pool is very tight and I only have a little over 4 feet from the pool to the fence. I have to continually cut the Traveler Palms back so they don't break the fence (This might have been a mistake, but I do love them because they are so tropical and majestic looking. Another "con" is that they flower every few months. The flowers are beautiful but they drop a lot of sap so we have to climb a ladder and cut them (have fallen in the pool doing this a few times. If I had to do it over again, I think I might have checked out the Fishtail Palm. They grow pretty large too, but I don't think they are as messy.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. I am happy to give you any input on these Florida plants (the ones I know of.

Blondegardener - you had visited my site in response to my compliments to your beautiful garden and offered to do some sketches (ideas for my blah (yet to be planted landscaping- and I have not checked this site in awhile and then saw your offer and went "eeeeeek oh my gawd, yes yes yes!" so while I am rather LATE - if you have the time, I would love any ideas you have!
