Please help! I have 2 hydrangeas that appear to have a disease. They have blackish spots on the leaves. New leaves do not have these spots. However, as they age..they appear. Any suggestion for what is causing this? The 2 hydrangeas are next to each other.

I adore hydrangeas too! Yours are stunning! I particularly like the oakleaf hydrangea as well as that true blue lace cap.

These are just spectacular! I, too, love hydrangeas - they are wonderful plants.

To answer your questions, I don't actually don't do anything in particular with my hydrangeas to change their color. Soil here is naturally acidic, so that helps with keeping the hydrangeas blue. They're in shade most of the morning and part sun later in the day. When I first planted them, I used to wrap them in burlap over the winter, but since there are now so many and they've gotten so large, I just cross my fingers and hope for the best!

Beautiful..How did you get your blue hydrangeas to bloom blue? Mine always have a pink flower.

I LOVE hydrangeas...it was great to see that someone also from New England had a great year with hydrangeas. I have several different varieties, and each year they are great, but for some reason this was my worst year ever! I don't know what happened...I think that it was too dry this summer for mine....they may be getting too much sun where I have them. What conditions do yours get? Full sun, part sun, shade?
