We have been s-l-o-w-l-y but almost daily working.... here are some more pics and I will try to add more updated ones soon. It has been much more work than we planned but we are trying to enjoy the process! Certainly a challenge. We tore off front porch and rebuilt as was suggested. We are presently digging forms for a side porch to put where the carport was and a curving sidewalk as several people suggested. Still undecided on outside colors. Thanks so much for your advice!

My home and flowers and yard. A rainbow of colors this time of year. I will include previouse years also when things were at their peak of beauty. "All thing great and small Jehovah God made them all!" He let me help a little!

This porch definitely says "Welcome Come"! The colors and patterns were key points through out my design. I will graduate design school this October. Thanks for all the comments!

I need to pick a front door color-going with pella steel door color line. Will be putting a mail slot in the door. Everything else in the picture stays the same...including the black shutters. I am thinking of boring black or dark green. Thoughts? Also not sure about hardware colors.

Built a new front porch on my 1941 cottage. The original brick porch had a small step off the front door which was a tripping hazard. My goal was to level the surface while giving the porch an old fashion feel of porches long ago. I used a composite decking material for low maintenance. I beefed up the small 4 X 4 porch post with a more substantial 8 X 8 column wrap and added a porch rail. I also added moldings over the front door to dress it up. The porch is now a wonderful place to sit in the morning sun and greet my neighbors as they pass by.

I really enjoy sitting here in the morning....the sun come up just off to the side. I plan to get new chairs....something a little bigger and neutral. Probably natural wicker or rattan and an outdoor area rug....any suggestions?

This is the front entrance porch to our house. It is quite large and looks out to the "Flowery Front Entrance" area (my other site. On the property that we bought was an old cottage and in it was the large old stove. We moved it to the porch as a show piece. It is fun to decorate seasonally. The porch has two relaxing/conversation areas. In the morning, it is great to have coffee there and watch the nature around us. The french patio chairs and table were a find on a happen-stance stop at a little store in Wisconsin. Someone was just bringing them in and I quickly snatched them up! They were a bargain. I've placed them just at the front door and to the right. It looks as if I am expecting everyone for tea! The dishes were a garage sale find for $.50! Not bad! I love decorating the porch and spending time there and sitting with friends with a cool lemonade. The old wheel-barrow was a gift my husband surprised me with on an anniversary. I love the red color! It fits perfectly in the corner. Stop by for lemonade!
I know a rug would look nice, but we have lots of white pines that lose their needles and it is very easy to blow the porch without a rug. The needles would stick to the rug very easily.
