  • Czack Home Gym, My husband and I moved into our house in 2008, and one of the things we wanted to do was get the basement finished so we can set up our exercise equipement. I told him that we didn't need to finish the whole basement to have a cool home gym. I had this idea in my head that I thought would look really cool and just rolled with it...literally. It took me four months, and it was well worth it. It just goes to show you that with a little (a lot) of hard work really does pay off. I'll explain in detail with the pictures what I used to accomplish this project., Basements Design

  • Pastaman's Cave, 1.5 Years, and allot of sweat. This basement project was all started with a request from my wife for a pool table. I figured we have to have a finished basement before we got the pool table, so I started buying a handful of 2x4's on the way home from work each night. I did all of the work myself, but hired out the electrical, and carpet. The space has a finished area of 1400 sq ft, and 3 unfinished rooms with a combined 650 sq ft. , Basements Design

  • Theater, This unfinished area was converted into a theater. It has a 100in screen and a custom built-in ( made out sheets of MDF ) in the original door location that was moved to the other side of the room. The carpet is a commercial plush glue down that feels like it has padding under it. The Speakers are hidden in the columns behind custom made speaker grils. The projector has its own cabinet with a curved front side. The ceiling is a coffered-tray, all the walls are a little over 1in thick to help sound deaden the area. The door was trimmed 2in to allow it to work in its new locations which happens to be at the bottom of the first floor stairway landing. Once the platform was built for he second row of seating, everything lined up perfectly. The lights are controlled by 3 remote dimmers. The screen retracts back into the ceiling and neatly tucks away. All the componets are hidden behind custom made cabinet doors that have Speaker grill cloth sandwiched between two routed pcs of MDF, to allow the equipment to breath. 98% of This project was drawn up, designed, and built by one person from start to finish. This project ran about 8 weeks. , Basements Design

  • KidZone, This once forgotten space has been converted into a 5-girl retreat with a TV/Game system area, an art room, and a gymnastics room....this 400 sq ft basement was pushing it for available space so I had to save as much floorspace as possible.

The art room has an art piece hand made using 1 bundle of wood shims and 3 different cans of neon spray paint. The kids loved it and I felt like my artistic side shined a little.

The gymnastics room was created by installing a new casement/block window to allow plenty of light in but it didn't open so no fear of a window being left open all night. I also hung two mirrored closet doors to the wall creating a full 6ft x 8 ft wall of mirrors to give a larger feel to the gymnastics/dance area.

The TV area was created with the same thought in mind - SAVE SPACE, so I utilized the area under the steps and made a cut out for the TV/Entertainment system and also a book nook/reading area....all was carpeted to give it a nice comfy feel like being in the Family Room not the basement.

The floor in the gymnastics room and art area were painted using garage epoxy paint with grey and white floor chips. It shines and looks like marble., Basements Design
