  • Victorian Fireplace, Before and after pictures of the restored fireplaces. All the mantels are original - and you can see that they still need some work. They were originally coal burning but we went back in with reproduction coal burning units using propane. The units and tiles were bought from a man in Maine that ships them over from England. These were a big investment but I couldn't imagine having anything else! Now I'm so glad we did it - they are unique and add so much to the rooms., Living Rooms Design

  • Fireplace remodel, Installing a TV above my fireplace turned into a big project. After removing the brick facade above the fireplace and replacing the drywall, the tv was mounted but the brick on the hearth was breaking and the brick above the fireplace box was loose. After considering tile or repairing the brick, I decided to do a decorative concrete surface. It was finished today and I love it. , Living Rooms Design

  • Modern Fireplace make-over, Taking my dull used brick (red) fireplace brick to a new level...still in the works. Any ideas?? I applied a masonry primer first then a coat of metallic dark silver base. Painting each brick (91 of them) a variation of metallic blue purple and light silver I'm stuck now. The mantel bricks are all a light silver metallic as is the hearth. I'm wanting to add a chrome or steel accent maybe to the mantel...??? Help please :-), Living Rooms Design

  • moroccan fireplace, I rebuilt this fireplace to be in tune with the house witch has an ethnic flare mixed with modern elegance. I removed the screen which many viewers suggested and I believe they where right it belonged to the fireplace as it was before (trying to make things fit were the shouldn't). , Living Rooms Design

  • fireplace fiasco, We are making progress with our fireplace. I took some of your suggestions as you can tell. I removed the gold metal and glass doors. The whole fireplace has been painted a slightly darker shade than the surrounding walls. The new decor was gathered from another area of the house. We are still working on the floor. Check back for more progress. We welcome anymore tips you can offer. Thanks, Living Rooms Design

  • The Blue Cave, This is our living room. It is very dark and while we like the blue walls, they add to the darkness. We love the fireplace, and the new hardwood floors we installed, but the rest of it is our furniture from college, and it's ready to be retired. We have a weird, mirrored-on-one-side room divider right by the front door we don't know what to do with. We have one long wall that is not broken up by anything and we haven't quite figured out what to do with it. Help!! , Living Rooms Design
