  • A Neglected 1940's Garden Restored and Now Vibrant and Alive!, Once a beautiful bird sanctuary, my garden was a tremendous challenge to bring it back to life and not only make it a joyous place to be and walk through, but also a quiet serene place as a part of our home. I spend an average of an hour a day, planting, pruning, watering and creatively thinking of ways to be inviting to birds and entertaining for our guests. I'd be very interested in your feedback., Gardens Design

  • Peaceful Backyard., We just got done redoing our backyard. It was soooo boring. We gave it some flair by adding a circular patio with a sidewalk that is made into the patio. The sidewalk, goes to steps made of stones for an additional patio on the lake. Thanks for looking., Patios & Decks Design

  • First steps to backyard makeover, I have a square backyard surrounded by typical fencing. I added a flagstone patio for the dining table. Put in a crushed granite trail around the yard and began putting in a few flowers and a raised vegetable garden. There is a pergola over the small concrete patio that was handmade and installed by my fabulous father. This pic is a few months into the new yard and of course is a work in progress. My father designed the layout of the yard and installed the railroad cross ties. He did a fabulous job and I enjoy it with him! Thanks so much dad!, Yards Design

  • Breezy Backyard Hide-Away, You wouldn't expect to find this oasis behind the high wooden gate...I found the brown beach towels to cover the seating and they are effective at keeping paw prints to a minimum. If I knew when I took the pics, that I would be sending them to be rated, I would have moved some junk out of the photo, like the covered grill in the background. Also, since then I have added a chandelier and a privacy fence. I hope you like it. Thanks very much! , Patios & Decks Design

  • Old California Courtyard , In the style of an old California hacienda, the entrance to the home is through the courtyard. Surrounded by high stucco walls the interior of the courtyard is a safe haven for the owners dachshunds. Two fountains provide water for the many hummingbirds and other wildlife. All plants and flowers are selected to attract hummingbirds and butterflys. The gate into the courtyard also acts as the front door to the house allowing the french doors (not seen) to remain open almost year round. Design and most of the work by the homeowners., Gardens Design

  • Home office, 1920's house renovation, This small room off of the main living room was previously used as a bedroom. Being right near the front door I wanted a useful space. There is no closet off the entry (1920's construction) so guests enter here to hang coats in the closet in this room. The floors, windows and woodwork are original. I am trying to blend new renovations/decorating with the age and style of the house. Walls are painted a blue/green. Window coverings in black/white/pale green stripe balloon curtain. I removed the closet door replacing it with a coordinating fabric curtain in black/white although the original door might be stored in the attic and I could install that if I can find it. Antique desk, hoosier cabinet and my grandmothers chairs. I would love suggestions on how to use small spaces such as this room. Comments would be appreciated especially since this is one space that guests see first. Thanks for looking!, Home Offices Design

  • SEPARATE but EQUAL Sports Theme Room, After almost a year - it is done. This room was a challenge. I have two boys 11 months apart who love sports. I wanted the space to feel open but have adequate storage. I also wanted the room to transition into their teenage years but be playful enough for now - they are 8 & 9. I am happy with the way it turned out :), Boys' Rooms Design
