  • I need help! What color for trim AND doors now! Thanks for Cabinet color ideas!, It was remodeled in the 1990's with a new cabinets and appliences. I have rebuilt the oven, replaced the fridge and mircowave. Stainless steel hood is on its way and a new dishwasher is coming soon. I have no idea what color if an to paint my cabinet and what color I should use for the countertops! I am thinking black cabinets with grey countertops? The walls are deep blue and the opposing wall is brown that goes all the way up the ceiling.

UPDATE: We have went with a nice grey for a more modern feel. I have replaced all the lighting with brushed nickle fixtures with albaster shades. We have decided to go with the cabinets with some helpful tips from everyone on this board. We were gong to do tealight on them but people said it looked to country kitchen which is NOT us. I am also installing three 4 inch canned lights above each entry way. One from the garage door, one from the backdoor, and one from the living room entrance. We are going to leave the blue around the cabinets but we are going to paint the rest grey.I am going to post the in progress pictures now. Any tips or hints would help! Thanks!
We also picked a light grey from the flooring for the ceiling and opposing wall - we are ditching the brown, to dark. DO WE PAINT THE DOORS AND TRIM TO THE CABINET COLOR OR DO WE GO WHITE? HELP! LOL ALSO what about taking down all the two light fixtures and installing canned lights?? what do you think?, Kitchens Design

  • Un Kitsch(Jean) Reno, Here's our teeny 64-square foot, 1980s 'blech' galley opened up into a warm, Parisian-style apartment kitchen for less than $12K. For our first renovation project, we played it safe by saving up & paying the experts to do the hard, dangerous, and/or expensive-to-repair stuff and focused on creating a warm space we knew we'd love for years to come., Kitchens Design

  • tiny kitchen with almost no cabinets NEW FACE LIFT!, Our kitchen was built in the 1970s and has never been remodeled as far as I know. We replaced the built-in stove with a new gas range. The floor was replaced years ago, but needs it again. The space is very small and has almost no cabinets. We had to actually remove a bank of drawers to make room for the dishwasher. The items from the drawers went in baskets that are on a mobile island. There really isn't room for a kitchen table but we've got one in there. We eat in the living room. We put the armoires in the kitchen so we could put glasses, large bowls, small appliances, etc in one side and food in the other. We have plans to remove the border and paint the walls and cabinet doors and replace the flooring. We will probably raise the height of the cabinets so my stand mixer will fit underneath them on the counter top. We're going to take the table out and get a couple bar chairs to use at the island for eating., Kitchens Design

  • 1970's Brady Bunch disaster, This kitchen reminds me of the Brady's kitchen. The wood cabinets are so old they cannot be upgraded. There is not a lot of space for storage etiher which creates a problem. The double oven and cook top are definitely from the 70's. There is wood trim that matches the cabinets in the middle and at the base of the walls. Also, I have a closet door made of wood as well. I rate this kitchen a -negative 5 star.....Please help!!!!, Kitchens Design

  • Mid century timewarp in need of unwarping, We just bought our dreamhouse in a fantastic location in Cincinnati. The only problem is that is an all original time warp down to the steel kabinets in the kitchen appliances yellow and blue bathrooms slanted bathroom kabinets with bakelite knobs etc. In addition while the house has a large footprint it cannot be seen from the road as plants and trees totally overshadow it. We need all the help we can get to unwarp this timewarp., Home Exterior Design

  • The look for a lot less-before & after, transitional kitchen style. i spent a lot of time pricing and revising plan to achieve a custom kitchen look without the price tag. because i love to cook but hate to clean, function was just as important as aesthetics. behind pocket door (left of ovens) is my pantry with custom looking cabinets and wood countertops (home depot unfinished cabinets w/ trim molding added and salvaged wood countertops) w/ built-in microwave and prep sink.
