I need Zen. When I was a little girl, this room seemed very large. Today, I need the "rest" in the room! Pros: the room is well ventilated with large window. Cons: storage over the toilet is inadequate, the vanity and toilet are awkwardly set. Original floor design appears to be set in concrete needs deep clean to bring out the inset design. The shower/bath are enclosed in a cave like structure. Poor ventilation here. Interesting architectual design though.I see this room in black and brilliant white. What do you think?

We went from shabby chic cottage(emphasis on shabby to what we refer to as our transitional dream kitchen! We had a small budget so we did most of it ourselves. It was our first attempt and we think it was a success! We did have help with the plumbing, electrical and drywall, some of which was needed due to the previous owner's DIY attempts. Maple cabinets, scabos travertine backsplash, granite counter tops and laminate floors. We splurged on our appliances but many of our "finds" we got with online auctions. We love to sit at the counter and have dinner just so we can enjoy our new view. A great way to start retirement. Please rate and let me know what you think.

I went from a Mardis Gras nightmare kitchen (purple walls and green countertops to my dream kitchen - complete with custom maple cabinets in a spice brown stain with pewter hardware, black galaxy granite, and a glass and onyx backsplash.

Open, light-filled and efficient kitchen with red dragon granite. We have shades-in-glass for the view and sunlight. I was able to include my dream of a "plant sink," and a drain in the floor to water the plants under the SouthEast Window.

I'm the luckiest person I know and was able to design my dream for Thanksgiving cooking. The kitchen proved itself last month when we fed 30 plus family members. There are 2 ovens (one of which is actually a two-in-one, 2 dishwashers, stainless sinks with built in drainboards, a built in soap dispenser, a glass stove top with down draft vent, tons of windows, a 9 foot island eat-in bar and counter top, a built in plumbed coffee pot in one of the 3 appliance garages, a stainless steel armoire-style refrigerator. There's even a door to the garage in the pantry, so I don't have to carry groceries up the stairs.

It's still a work in progress, even 5 months after we moved in.

Kitchen Says Bye-Bye ...

Our kitchen facelift was prompted by a sink that never looked clean and a really sad electric stove that had tilted heating elements for a "less than enjoyable" cooking experience. Now we have a five-burner gas cooktop that I love and a stainless sink that shines like the sun. We also installed granite countertops all stainless appliances and had our white cabinets painted with a two-step faux finish. Thank you sad stove for making this all possible!

Kitchen that Needs At...

This 1925 country kitchen is where my grandmother prepared all the meals with vegetables grown from the garden. I am third generation. When my mother died two years ago, I decided to move in the home I grew up in. I need help. This kitchen needs fixin! Meal preparation and family gatherings are restricted to this tiny space. I have grand ideas but need help in incorporating my vision. The family home is about a mile from the military base and harbor. I like the maritime location because of the soft steady, breezes that blow in from the habor and the horns of the military ships coming and going from the ports. It gives me a sense of comfort.
