The dorm room in these pictures is located in a dorm that was built in the 1930s. The size of the room is 12ft x 13ft about 169 square feet. It only had room for one of the desks the school provides. The challenge was creating an environment where the girls would each have a desk, storage room and some space to relax. With some very careful planning we were able to get it all in! I have included both before and after pictures to give you an idea. The comments from passersby at the beginning were wow you have a small room ... by the end they were wow your room is so big!! Funny how space planning can make such a difference!

This is my single in my on campus apartment. I really wanted to make my room into somewhere that I could come back to after a really stressful day and just relax.

It is hard to get things to look the way I want since I have to use the furniture they give me, and I'm not allowed to put nails in the walls so everything has to be done with push pins. But I did my best!

My granddaughter had chosen her colors purchased bedding & a MM poster when I started looking on RMS. We'd like to credit "I LOVE my dorm" as you'll see we got ideas from her. We hope she is flattered. We also added many other touches to make a drab room pretty comfy and cozy.

I'm a girly girl who loves pink! I wanted my dorm room to be an expression of my personality. I also love Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, I think think they are classic female icons. One of my favorite things is polka dots and also wanted them in the room. We aren't allowed to paint the walls, so I used a black sheet to cover one wall to be the focal point of the room. I also have lots of lamps because I don't like overhead lighting. The chair I found at a thrift store for $20! I had it recovered to match the room!

My roommate and I decided to use black and white with accents of yellow and turquoise. With a little bit of space we managed to make our dorm room well warm and homey. It is a place that we both can come and relax after a long day of school and professors. It is a fun space that everyone in our all loves to come to and hang out. The hard part of decorating dorms is no nails no paint nothing that will ruin the walls but i hope you enjoy! And Hook 'Em Horns! :]

I live in a 9 x12 single dorm room and I really tried to use the walls so I can have more space on the floor to do things. I added spot lights and tons of light through ceiling and table lamps. My favorite part of the room is the faux brick wall and the art made of a bathroom floor mat. My canvases are blank but I’ll get around to painting on them some day.

This is my Freshman dorm room. I roomed with my best friend from high school. We decided on the color scheme together and bought matching things accordingly. Our dorm room was very small, but we made the most of it by lofting our beds. We began to plan the layout of our room the spring before we moved in. My mom and I visited the dorms to measure the room size and the furniture that they provided so that we could find the most space efficient set-up. People came by our room all year last year because they had heard about our room and wanted to "come see the room with the chandelier."
