Dorm Rooms

  • Small dorm room storage challenged!!, The dorm room in these pictures is located in a dorm that was built in the 1930s. The size of the room is 12ft x 13ft about 169 square feet. It only had room for one of the desks the school provides. The challenge was creating an environment where the girls would each have a desk, storage room and some space to relax. With some very careful planning we were able to get it all in! I have included both before and after pictures to give you an idea. The comments from passersby at the beginning were wow you have a small room ... by the end they were wow your room is so big!! Funny how space planning can make such a difference!, Dorm Rooms Design

  • Complete Dorm Luxury Overhaul, At the Pratt Institute, i completely renovated my dorm room. I installed a new wenge-look wood floor, repainted the walls and trim and brought in complete new furniture. (I hid all the other dorm furniture under the bed ha!) Enjoy!

ALOT of work for 4 days, but totally worth it !, Dorm Rooms Design

  • Contemporary College Dorm Remodel, This is my single in my on campus apartment. I really wanted to make my room into somewhere that I could come back to after a really stressful day and just relax.

It is hard to get things to look the way I want since I have to use the furniture they give me, and I'm not allowed to put nails in the walls so everything has to be done with push pins. But I did my best!

*I just did some "remodeling" so the updated pictures are up first, then all the old ones say (OLD) so you know which ones are current*, Dorm Rooms Design

  • Glam Princess, I'm a girly girl who loves pink! I wanted my dorm room to be an expression of my personality. I also love Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, I think think they are classic female icons. One of my favorite things is polka dots and also wanted them in the room. We aren't allowed to paint the walls, so I used a black sheet to cover one wall to be the focal point of the room. I also have lots of lamps because I don't like overhead lighting. The chair I found at a thrift store for $20! I had it recovered to match the room!, Dorm Rooms Design

  • Sophomore Year Retreat, My cousin Kelsy and I (Shauna) are roommates for our sophomore year at Messiah College. So we created a room that coordinates our existing bedspreads. We wanted to make a place for ourselves that felt more like a home than a dorm. We were hoping for it to have a warm cozy feel but still incorporate color and some fun touches. :), Dorm Rooms Design

  • <3, With a budget of 300 dollars , i tried to create a new and exciting place for my first year at college. The room is set in the dreary city , where i dot receive much light , so bold color was a must. I hope you all enjoy my space , and i look forward to putting up more of my creations, as i progress in life. , Dorm Rooms Design

  • Ma petite chambre a coucher, This is my freshman dorm room which has some Victorian influences and multiple damask prints. I wanted to really personalize the space with out caring too much on matching things. There are many pillows so the room can be switched up for a different look. , Dorm Rooms Design

  • Girls Dorm Room-Fun & Functional with homemade headboards, Your typical dorm room with the drab block walls that we aren't allowed to paint.... as moms we all try to create that home away from home feeling for our children leaving the nest!! Of course, those 1st pics of "our" creation for them is the only time it will look great! - Neat & clean, etc.! So these were taken on moving day! We made matching headboards & my talented mother pitched in on the sewing of the dustruffles! The comforter & pillows I got from PB teen! - Along with the splurge on the rug (which was actually the inspiration for the room!) We had the old bulletin board & painted that to match. Our daughter loved her "new" room!, Dorm Rooms Design

  • Pink and Green/College Style, This is my daughter and her roommates' first dorm room, Freshman, so wanted it to be a space for them that was both functional and "fun" to live in. Biggest challenges were of course space, as with most dorm rooms, and also color. They wanted to use pink and green which can be a bit "juvenile" looking so also added black and a few modern twists to make it more adult . , Dorm Rooms Design

  • Home Sweet Home: Dorm Style, My roommate and I decided to use black and white with accents of yellow and turquoise. With a little bit of space we managed to make our dorm room well warm and homey. It is a place that we both can come and relax after a long day of school and professors. It is a fun space that everyone in our all loves to come to and hang out. The hard part of decorating dorms is no nails no paint nothing that will ruin the walls but i hope you enjoy! And Hook 'Em Horns! :] , Dorm Rooms Design
