Thanks everyone for the suggestions and compliments. I have never heard of the starched fabric idea. It sounds pretty interesting! I will probably get window treatments for the other window whenever I can. All of this furniture is what we already had. I can't afford to buy furniture everytime I change houses just to fit the space so I think I'll stick with what I got. I like it! ;

You need window treatments on both windows of the dining room. The furniture is pretty heavy for the space.
A contemporary round table would give you the same seating and also give you more space. An alternative would be to get four open wooden chairs which match the table.

It looks really good, but I think that idea about the starched fabric sounds awesome! I have never heard of that, how clever!

MsGaybee echoed what I was going to say about starching fabric on the wall (best solution ever!. I was prior military and understand all too well the difficulties with base housing. However, you did a fantastic job! Looks great. Yours could also be an inspiration room for renters since they can rarely paint as well.

I agree with sister. I am going to share with you the greatest decorating trick I learned in my years as an Army wife (23 moves in 19 years!: starching fabric on walls, cabinets, almost anywhere (even ugly metal storage cabinets at Ft. Sill, OK. http://www.omniport.net/lonestar/Starch/sheets.html
Be sure to use cotton, and nothing with nap (like velvet. Also, be sure to wash all the fabrics first, to get rid of any excess dye.You can find sheets or fabric to compliment almost any decor, and take off from there. Get Buzz Lightyear for the boys' room(s do 1 wall & make curtains to match. The best part is, you peel it off, wash it, and take it with you to the next duty station. The kids instantly feel at home (or so my girls told me. Take down the fabric, & the walls just need to be wiped down with a damp sponge mop, and your cleaning for clearance is done. Enjoy your life (& moves, & my thanks to you, your husband & family for serving our country.
