An easy way to fix your curtains is to use unbleached muslin. It is very inexpensive, linen-looking fabric that you can find at your local fabric store and you can add it to the top or bottom of your existing curtains! Even if you don't sew, you can use iron-on fusible webbing to fuse the two fabrics together (or just pin them and no one with know the difference. You could even use the muslin to make some curtains to put in between the red panels and do away with your blinds altogether. Again, if you don't sew you can just drape the muslin over the curtain rod (with the cut side away from you and pin it with some pretty vintage brooches to make it stay in place. I saw this in a magazine once using a vintage lace tablecloth as a curtain held in place with vintage brooches. It was beautiful!

Thank you sockswithoutpartners...the phone is hard because my house is small and it sticks out. It will really hurt a person if they hit their head on it. That chair is usually not sat in. It does look better in person I think. I appreciate the input...Melrose80...you are right! I don't like the blinds either but it is the front of my house. I will check into different curtains, after Christmas!

My heart goes back a long time in admiring and appreciating that colonial look you have. The only thing that somewhat bothers me is the phone. It seems almost to "modern" for the room. Is there any other room you could place it in and enjoy it? The room still rates a 5 from me.

If I may, I'd like to suggest swapping out the curtains. Instead, some floor length panels in a multi colored traditional print fabric would bring this space to life, in my eyes anyway. It could be floral, stripes, plaid, scenic, or whatever.
