  • A New Perspetive on an Old Kitchen, When my husband and I first looked at our house we knew right away that we where going to rip out the kitchen and bathroom. We thought we would just rip out the cabinets, repaint and then put new stuff in. The more and more we thought about it we decided to rip out the wall in the dining room to open up the space and we ripped everything out down to the studs. Here is our adventure from start to finish!, Kitchens Design

  • Start of our new kitchen space HELP, We are removing a bearing wall on the rear of our home.We needed more counter space and a better layout. The fridge and exterior door would colide on a daily basis in the summer. The range had no vent and the counter seating was too close to the dining room table to be of use when we entertained. Well the demo is done and we are looking for a few good ideas to move this closer to the dream kitchen we both want. Our home is 105 years old with a large wrap around porch so the ideas have to be clasic and fit in a period home HELP Thanks Art n Chell , Kitchens Design

  • Kitchen almost done, just needs different wall color, Our reno consisted of a complete demo of the cabinets. We chose to go with Espresso finished cabinets from Kitchen Maid w/ undermount lighting. Tumbled tile backsplash w/ glass inserts and tumbled strip. New stainless appliances. Quartz coutertop. Brass light fixture has since been replaced with stainless steel 3 light. All we have left is to change the wall color. Not sure what color to go with...thinking of a light green, yellow or cream color., Kitchens Design

  • Will I ever get done?, Our home is a former rooming house. The bedroom here had a dining alcove with cabinets, small sink and small closet. I got the brainy idea to take them out. So we started July 2009. Had some roadblocks along the way, but here is the up to date yet not totally finished work., Bedrooms Design

  • Relaxing Retreat, We are currently renovating our master bathroom. When we moved in, it had one sink, an 80's shower, and everything was builder's grade. We are doing it ourselves and although it is taking a while, it will be well worth it. Be sure to follow the progress!, Bathrooms Design

  • Out with the OLD, I moved into this split-level home built in the 50's the kitchen was minimal and seperated from the dining area by a wall. I hated the dark, cramped, outdated space and didn't want to spend a fortune since being military I never know when the Army will move me. Here is what I did with my kitchen so far and I will update as I get the granite and final touches done over the next few weeks.

I have to add that I did all this on a budget. The cabinets were the largest expense and then appliances. I did a lot of pricing online and found some great deals. One thing I would recommend is find the deals and go to one of you local appliance stores you'd be amazed at how much some places will come down on price when you have a printout with you. Most stores don't carry the appliances in stock so either way you'll have to wait a few days for delivery. I saved well over $700.00 by doing this :-) and never take "we don't pricematch online as the final answer.. They will if you stick to your guns. They don't pay anymore then the online sources do for their items :-) As far as cabinets I saved a bundle there too. Don't be afraid to assemble them yourself. It's actually pretty easy and it saved me about 1500.00 by doing it myself, Kitchens Design

  • From Boring to Brilliant, The old kitchen was a standard L-shaped layout with oak veneer cabinets and laminate countertops. The entire kitchen (and adjacent dining/living areas) was gutted. The old laundry closet was demoed to make space for the large open concept kitchen. New flooring, cabinets, countertops, backsplash, and lighting were installed. The finishing touch was the design of the new stair rail - now book case - that matches the kitchen cabinets and feels like a piece of furniture now. Makes the whole open concept first floor feel like home. Did I mention that I did most of this from Afghanistan? Ha! Doing a remodel from half a world away was quite the experience! , Kitchens Design
