  • Just Moved In--WHAT TO DO?????, Need help--desperately! After 8 years of marriage we finally have our first home. We could never buy with the military always moving us but finally my Soldier husband has some stability. SO EXCITED to be in here but have no idea how to furnish it. Picked out a big area rug and it didn't match the style or color tones AT ALL. Now deflated and nervous about trying again. How do I set this room up? Floors are cherry hardwood, fireplace is black with traditional white detail, and that box cutout above the fireplace--do I fill that in, put in a widescreen with a shelf above it...? What kind of seating arrangement? Window treatments or no? Lighting? Thanks for any and all help. So want this place to look stellar!!!, Living Rooms Design

  • Great Room, This House was a complete gut! We took down the 2 walls that separated the kitchen, living room and dining room to create a great room! We wanted a wide open space that could seat a lot of people comfortably without being overbearing for entertaining and parties. I used a lot of nontraditional but functional eclectic details to keep the room from being to stuffy and traditional and all the decor is based around family! , Kitchens Design

  • Rug or Curtains?, A textured, large print wallpaper surround the dining room in our 1939 Dutch Colonial. The chandelier is true to the era but the table is an affordable Crate and Barrel find. IKEA chairs finish off the simple look because it’s easy to wash the chair covers! What should we do about a rug or curtains?, Dining Rooms Design

  • Chicago Great Room, My First Place - a vintage Chicago rehab. I had to stretch the budget and learn on the fly but I'm happy with the final product. It was very fun to pick out almost everything from scratch - although working w a non-accommodating developer was difficult. I left down the walls to one of the bedrooms so that I was able to create this "great room" type space in the middle of the city. It houses the living room dining area and kitchen. The fireplace is original dating back to the late 1800s., Living Rooms Design
