We removed a short metal gate that lead from the driveway to the outside patio. The old gate was ugly and not secure. The new gate is high, blocks the view to the driveway and trash cans and is secure. It has a key code access and lock.

Our living room has great architectural elements that inspired this comfy cozy design to represent an island retreat. Warm colors and the pleasures of good lighting makes you feel both stimulated and at ease.

Bored with the same old Christmas decor, I decided to add a punch of color and fun to my holiday kitchen this year. I can pretend I live in Palm Beach whilst freezing here in Chicago. LOL

Our dining room is small but has lots of light with 2 walls of windows. It is a cheerful spot, really my favorite in our house. It looked pretty plain and needed an update.

I recently moved into a new townhouse, but as a renter I'm limited to only temporary design solutions. I came across a charming but worn patio set in need some of TLC. I also came across a glider, still in good shape but rather dull with its standard forest green paint job. All of the pieces had great bones but were much too bland for my monotonous gray patio. I knew I desperately needed to add some color while sticking to my very limited budget. With a few new cans of spray paint, a couple yards of outdoor fabric, some imagination and elbow grease, I managed to create a transformation that exceeded my expectations.
Using Rustoleum Painter's Touch gloss spray paint [specifically Sun Yellow & Dark Gray], the patio set was given a sunny & bold, modern look that can withstand the elements. The underside of the glass table top was given a solid coat of yellow that camouflages the many scratches in the glass while introducing a burst of color.
After scraping off loose paint with wire brushes, followed by a light sanding, the chairs and table base were painted with the dark gray spray paint. The chair cushions easily detached from the chairs and were recovered with outdoor fabric I bought from JoAnn Fabrics. I simply wrapped the cushions and stapled the underside with a basic heavy-duty stapler.
The glider and the base of the adjacent marble table were given the same coat of yellow paint to brighten up the corner. A pillow made of matching fabric, along with a bold outdoor pillow from Crate & Barrel warms up the seating area.
It's amazing what just a little paint and hard work can do! Now the patio is ready for its first summer dinner party - with supplies & materials costing under $100!

Horizontal Oak cabinet doors
Quartz counter tops, Stainless appliances, glass back splash and porcelain flooring add a charming and unpretentios look to out modest home.
1960's bookcases used as China cabinets along with a Teak Danish table with fantastic danish chairs complete the look. Simple Functional and very much my style.

When we bought the house the counters were all tiled. Although they were pretty, they were uneven, and hard to clean. We put in silestone counters, tiled the back splash, mounted an under-mount sink, and our neighbor built us a new table. This kitchen brings us tranquility and joy. It overlooks our organic garden and a beautiful extinct volcano.

Using old Chicago street pavers for the entry walk and porch, this colonial style home evokes a sense of old southern charm. The varied color and texture of the authentic paving brick are crucial to the period flavor and elegance. The reddish tones of the brick provide a rich contrast to the sage green siding. The wrought iron cafe table and chairs play up the southern colonial style even though this home is actually just 26 miles south of Chicago in Frankfort, IL
