  • My painted kitchen, With a very limited buget I recently redid the original maple floors purchased stainless steel and black appliances and painted the counters along with the "tile" backsplash. • contemporary craftsman, long overdue 80's kitchen remodel. To keep within a good budget, worked with as much existing structure and flooring as possible. Several key structural changes moved a door within inches but makes massive space improvements. Took out wall from 4-season room to kitchen and kept the vault. So much for the standard midwest 2-story layout!, Kitchens Design

  • Renovated Florida Cottage Kitchen, Just finished renovating the kitchen in my 1946 Florida cottage. By taking down the wall between the original kitchen and dining room the kitchen functions so much better. Plus it feels like I added square footage to the house. Yet I tried to design the new kitchen in keeping with the vintage 40's house. , Kitchens Design

  • Early American Antique Country Kitchen, Two years ago I was able to make one dream come true when, with the help of a great designer, I brought my dream kitchen to life, with soapstone countertops, a porcelain farmhouse sink, and custom cherry cabinets ! As you can tell in the pics, I do not have upper cabinets and I have used my early American antique furniture as additional "cabinets' in my kitchen. All of the antiques are functional and hold either food, dishes, more antiques or glassware. My large cabinet in the corner of the kitchen (which holds part of my yellowware collection) is actually two custom cabinets that have been put together to resemble a large cupboard. The pictures do not do the space justice as I have painted the walls a colonial cream that come to life under candlelight. Even on bright sunny days the walls glow as if they are reflecting candles and it always seems cozy and warm even on the coldest days. • My Dream Kitchen, After 2 years of looking in magazines, watching shows and thinking about what I really wanted, we finally did it. We did a complete kitchen remodel, and I love it! In my old kitchen there was not enough I actually have more than I need! ( time to s-h-o-p !! ) My husband and I did all the design work, and painted ourselves. We hired workers to do the rest. The cabinets were custom made, and hand glazed. The gentlemen that did the work were true artists. The flooring is travertine, we used it in the main living space. The cabinets are done in ivory with a chocolate glaze, and the island and bar area is done in a chocolate brown color, with a black glaze. We used maple for the ivory cabinets, and cherry for the island and bar area. Everything was done I really got what I wanted. The drawers have the slow close feature. We have pull out spice racks, lazy susan in the corner, hidden trash cans, and lots of roll outs...woo-hoo! I love the hood a lot...even it has storage. We had all custom lighting done. Everything is on dimmers, and you can light up each area as you want. We added under cabinet lighting, and have puck lights put in the display cabinets, and the glass ones. I added beadboard to some areas, and I love it. We did an induction cooktop ( LOVE LOVE IT! ) 42 inch built in fridge, wall oven, warming drawer, and a microwave/high speed convection oven. ( all KitchenAid appliances ) I love having 2 ovens when we need it, but it's a microwave the rest of the time! We put a wine fridge in the bar area, and installed a new dishwasher. We put panels on everything that we could...I love that look! I wanted the appliances to blend in. Our backsplash is stone and glass...we still have one more thing to add to the area under the hood. I did an apron sink, which I LOVE. ( I have wanted one of those forever! ). The faucet, pot filler , cabinet knobs and pulls are all done in an oil rubbed bronze finish. I love that look...they are a dark chocolate color. We did granite for the counter tops, and they have an " ogee " edge on them. We also did the laundry room/pantry area too. Now it has all matching cabinets, and we added a pocket door. We even had a custom cat area done!! it's wonderful....a special place for our kitty to have her liter box and food/water bowls. I am soooooo happy!!! It was completed just a day before x-mas eve! It still feels like a dream : )

UPDATE: you asked .....the light above the island is Golden Lighting 8606-10 RBZ , Multi Light Pendant, Rubbed Bronze . The paint color is Olympic, Sauteed Mushroom, the granite is called Giallo Ornamental. ( we selected slabs with a little more movement ). few of you have asked about the unfinished things. Please remember, we worked till 11 pm on dec. 23rd! This was as far as we got. The base boards and paint in the pantry will be done this week. I will also be adding some personal touches, and a bit of color. We also have a wall that I have not shown pics of yet ( its opposite the oven/bar wall ) I will be making that a family wall ( calendar, pics, kids schedule, etc. ) I am going to add a " menu for the day " on there as well. I think it will be adorable when I am done. I am thinking of doing magnetic spice jars on that wall too....what do you all think? soooo much to think about, it can be stressful!! Plus, now that the kitchen is done, I have to think about what I will do in the family room, which is of the kitchen..its a very open floor plan. It needs to flow.
Happy Holidays!!!! : ), Kitchens Design

  • From 1970s to 2008 On a Budget!, Hope you love our kitchen! The counters are stained concrete. The cabinets & table were painted with Ralph Lauren paint in Cottonwood and the Ralph Lauren antiquing glaze in white. We removed the florescent lighting and added canned lighting. We spent $500 on this renovation. I purchased the drapes at Walmart. The chandelier is from Lowe's. , Kitchens Design

  • Never Got an Easy Bake Oven, Our kitchen remodel was completed in 2007. Callier and Thompson did all of the work. Our product choices are: CWP cabinets Madura Gold granite countertops Viking range & double oven Kitchenaid 42" refrigerator dishwasher & microwave. Floor and backsplash are Ankara by Florida Tile. Our home was built in 1973 and it had an Early American U-shaped kitchen. The best design decision we made was to eliminate the U-shape in favor of a center island. , Kitchens Design

  • Spicy contemporary red kitchen, Well I finally got my wish this spring and have a new kitchen and now after all that hard work I can share it here as well. It took two months, but I planned this for a year and designed the whole kitchen myself. We did almost all the work alone, we had a plumber, electrician and drywall guys, everything else was our job. We had a budget of $25,000 but we went $5,000 over budget for the total of $30,000. The appliances are all Fisher&Paykel, except for the Dacor microwave drawer and together the cost was $10,000 just for the appliances. The microwave drawer I'm very happy with and it was worth every penny, because I saved counter space. For counter top after careful considerations and try outs I chose Quartz for it's natural beauty and durability, also because I wanted natural and I didn't like the look of Corian and I couldn't go with granite, because it's too busy for the red cabinets. For the back splash we did red Italian mosaic tile. All the cabinets are from Ikea and all the bottom drawers have quiet closing. The floors are bamboo and I have them in the whole house including the basement. The kitchen is really easy to maintain and clean, even though I was really skeptical about that high gloss, but now I'm very happy with my choice. I had a really small space to work with and it took a lot of remeasuring, square paper and lot of blue tape, hm and a lot of HGTV watching. I don't have the kitchen for show, I actually cook every day so I'm really happy with the outcome. For everybody who is remodeling I recommend combining lower cost items like Ikea with high end items, it gives you the expensive look without thousands of dollars and don't be afraid to use color ;) , Kitchens Design

  • My Kitchen & Breakfast Area, My kitchen includes painted off-white cabinets, wood ceiling and an eye-catching turquoise island. The cabinets go to the ceiling and feature glass-front cabinets at the top with lights.

The countertops are black soapstone. My breakfast table, next to kids' table and a sitting area, is made from an old piece of wood with an iron base.

My favorite thing is my backsplash. Made by a local artist, it features objects I've saved for years: my grandmother's silverware, broken dishes, shells, old keys, marbles my uncle played with as a little boy and coal miner's id tags. There's also room on the sides to store cooking oils and my collection of salt & pepper shakers., Kitchens Design
