  • Small galley makeover, I omitted upper wall cabinets to make the small kitchen feel open and airy. I added the 12-inch deep cabinet for coffee/tea center (left of refrigerator), and changed the straight galley by wrapping the cabinet under the south window and putting the sink in that corner. Small space, organized well, makes it very easy to cook with very few steps. I'm stuck on the idea of backsplash. Don't like the look of the countertop used as backsplash, so still looking for ideas. Suggestions?, Kitchens Design

  • Cherry Dreams!, Our choice was do it up or list it and move. We went for the former, removing two walls, eliminating an unused formal living room, to create a HUGE, open, inviting kitchen/dining/breakfast/family space united by solid oak flooring throughout. Cherry cabinets, quartz counters, travertine backsplash, 5'x9' island, induction cooktop and more!

Regarding the darkness....the pics were taken at night. During the day it is bathed in light from the window over the sink, 2 bays and one bow window in adjacent rooms., Kitchens Design

  • Updated and budget friendly kitchen reno, Our kitchen went from a drab 1950's original to a modern, beautiful space. It's safe to say that everything except the faucet and appliances came from Lowe's. Very proud of my hubby that did most of the work himself.

  • Our First Kitchen!, Welcome to our small, yellow kitchen! This is our first house, and we're having a lot of fun trying to turn it into a home. We are thinking about painting our cabinets white (perhaps antique white) and having quartz countertops installed. We are also thinking about adding a backsplash. Any and all ideas are welcome! :), Kitchens Design

  • "Optimista" Kitchen Makeover, Very small budget. We did almost all the work ourselves, including design and building the barstool, table/chairs and bench. We painted existing cabinets and added new cabinets and quartz countertops (no granite!! with wine rack for extra space and storage. It's part of an overall total house remodel, so we maintained the exposed, stained concrete floors throughout (very easy to clean. Cheerful, Earthtone colors with accent match the rest of the house. We just wanted it to look less "Kitcheny".

  • From Boring to Brilliant, The old kitchen was a standard L-shaped layout with oak veneer cabinets and laminate countertops. The entire kitchen (and adjacent dining/living areas) was gutted. The old laundry closet was demoed to make space for the large open concept kitchen. New flooring, cabinets, countertops, backsplash, and lighting were installed. The finishing touch was the design of the new stair rail - now book case - that matches the kitchen cabinets and feels like a piece of furniture now. Makes the whole open concept first floor feel like home. Did I mention that I did most of this from Afghanistan? Ha! Doing a remodel from half a world away was quite the experience! , Kitchens Design

  • Modern Cottage Kitchen- Please Rate., It might not look like a big deal to you but I'm thrilled to have a functioning kitchen! It's just a simple cottage kitchen but we love it. It looks great and works great too. My favorite thing aside from the Quartz counters is my spice rack that slides out from the side of the range. All the spices fit so neatly in the narrow cabinet and they're right there ready to use when I'm cooking... which is now often., Kitchens Design

  • Bahh to Beautiful !, The space was the typical 1954 ranch style house. Small kitchen very dated and lacking storage space.

We took the wall out between the kitchen and dining room opening up the entire room to more light and a feeling of spaciousness.

The only cabinets in the old kitchen were on one side. We were able to add cabinets along the other side of the room, making the kitchen more of a galley style kitchen. This added more storage space that was really needed.

We built a bar to use for serving and an informal seating area between the kitchen and dining room.

The cabinets are manufactered cabinets from a local home center and the counter tops and backsplash are quartz. A new 16 inch square laminate tile floor was installed in the kitchen and dining room as well as the back entry and basement stairs., Kitchens Design

  • After 18 years, it finally feels like home!!, It is finally done. Demo day was July 24th. Eight long months, we did all the work ourselves, but so worth it. It is now the area of our home we all gravitate to. The camera didn't quite capture the colors correctly. The cabinets are more brown than orange and the walls are a dark tan. Thanks for looking!, Kitchens Design
