  • Newlywed living room on a budget (HELP!), This is the living room in our first home. Since we are newlyweds, and I don't graduate for another 6 months, we are on a strict budget. We are trying to make our home fun and cozy, but have to take into account price every step of the way. Any tips on how we can improve our home (budget friendly of course) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!, Living Rooms Design

  • Need help adding my husband's personality to our home!, I purchased an old farm-house in 2002. Since then, the space has been almost completely renovated. New roof, siding, wiring, plumbing and drywall. My family (father and uncles) and I have done most of the work ourselves. The next project is flooring. Here is my problem: when I was designing/painting the house, it was just for myself. Since then, I've gotten married and my new husband has moved into the space with me. I'm having trouble putting his personality into our home and he feels that it is not really HIS space. I'm willing, but I can't figure out how to add him to this space, mostly because i don't know what his style/preferences are... and he isn't particularly forthcoming., Living Rooms Design

  • budget friendly kitchen makeover, We were on tight budget with our kitchen makeover. My husband added trim and crown molding to all the cabinets. I then painted the cabinets a cream color and added new oil rubbed bronze hardware. My husband also built the cornice boxes over the windows for extra detail. We added a new laminate countertop, sink, faucet and lighting. Our last project was tiling our kitchen floor. We did the entire kitchen for under $2,100, Kitchens Design

  • Dining in Progress, After layers and layers of 80s floral wallpaper, I'm trying to bring it into my vision of a chic bachelorette dining room for cocktail parties and more. It still has green carpet until my budget says otherwise but I'm just not the green type of person., Dining Rooms Design

  • Cinco de Mayo centerpieces go green, I call these "salsa gardens"...They are for a teachers' luncheon with a Mexican theme. I wanted to create something they could take home and actually use. The serving dishes (to serve the salsa or tortilla chips in) contain all the ingredients to make fresh salsa--tomato, serrano chili and cilantro plants, and onion seed packet--along with recipe card I made on the computer. This idea can be used towards any themed party, e.g. tomato plant with basil, oregano, thyme and parsely herbs in an Italian themed pasta bowl. , Holidays Design

  • My Master Bedroom- Blue ,white and neutrals, Master bedroom with tons of budget friendly ideas. Because the mixture of old and new and the unique peices found in antique shops and auctions over the years it is timeless. The room was built 12 years ago on the 1865 farmhouse. Changing decorative pillows and buying a new lamp or two the room can be freshened up easily. I change the bedding with the blankets and sheets beings mix and matchable every time I change the sheets. I have collected some of these things over 30 years. In another house they can be used in different ways. The sheets are stored under the bed in baskets. I had the bed custom made a bit higher to allow for the storage baskets under it. We all have our favorite things.. I hope you like mine.!, Bedrooms Design

  • Tiny, Budget Friendly, Sweet and Simple Baby Boy Room, When I was expecting my son I didn't want a "themed" room and I didn't want brown in the bedding, which was all that I could find. I am not a designer, but I got tons of inspiration from looking at nurseries on Rate My Space and other websites. Most of the furniture and the rug were found on Craigslist and the bedding and curtains were designed and made by me. The quilt was a gift and was designed to match. The room is only 8x8 feet. We love how sweet and simple it turned out and it has served us well. I wanted to take pictures and document it because it has been such a special space and we are getting ready to move into a big boy room to be shared with a new brother., Nurseries Design
