The inspiration for this room came from a picture on pottery barns website about a speedboat bed. The price if the bed was ridiculous and I knew I could make one just as nice if not nicer so i set out to create the ultimate nautical boys room. The bed is hand made by me with fully functioning bow lights, lighted compass, water temp gauge, and amperes gauge. 2 walls are upholstered in stained pine 1X2 to create a yacht type feel. Grey laminate floors, all stained pine trim and hand painted door. Closet door handles are old paddles I had in the garage cleaned up and clear coated. Ceiling fan is from Hunter Fans and has actual sail cloth fan blades. The mural on the wall was designed and hand painted by me, it is the area of the St. Lawrence river in which we live. The room took several months to complete but my little man loves it and the smile it brings to his face made it all worth while....

Zac's Dad called me and asked if there was a way to take an old truck apart and reassemble it in his son's room. My initial response was "sure, anything can be done, but..." Insert 100 reasons why it wouldn't work. Let's say he was a little disappointed. As our conversation developed, it came to light that it wasn't the idea of a real truck he was hot on, it was the fact that he didn't want one cut out of plywood and painted to look like a truck. He was in love with the idea of a 3 dimensional truck. The solution I proposed was to build our own vintage truck. So that's what we did. Styled after a 1940's Ford/Chevy pick up, we sculpted a scaled down version with an extended bed to accommodate a twin mattress. We topped off our handy work with a distressed paint finish and trim pieces. The only real parts on this bed are the wheels from a volkswagon and the steering wheel. We outfitted the room with a faux garage door sporting a logo of his son Zac's fictitious custom automotive business. I apologize to those of you that had seen this a month or so ago, it seems that several of my uploads were deleted by some gliche. So, here we are again, kickin the tires.

I wanted to build bunk beds for my 4 children to sleep in that would allow for friends as well. It took a little over 3 days and cost a little over $500 to achieve.

My boys' colorful big boy room. They are 5 and 4. The room is a little small, but we made it work. They like all of the colors. I like the cheeriness. I painted the union jack dresser on a whim, after seeing one on Pinterest. I made the transportation wall art (after seeing them on Land of Nod, and painted the letters for their previous nursery. The lamps came from the Goodwill. I saw some similar at Target, so I bought these and painted them a matching yellow from their original brass color. I bought the Metro map since we moved here from Maryland. I was able to frame it pretty cheaply using the "build-a-frame" frame end pieces at Michaels, and having Lowe's cut the glass to size (less than $15

I created an awesome pirate themed bedroom for my son. The extra large hand painted pirate map and pirate ship bunk bed came out better than I expected!

This is my sons big boy room. He loves trucks, planes, and motorcycles so I decided to just go with everything. He is 5 years old, but I tried to make it work for him to grow up and still like, and not to be too young.

Beckham's dad built all the furniture in the room. The window treatments and pillows were custom designed. He moved up to this big boy room to make room for his little brother.

My 8 yr. old son LOVES any creature that lives under the sea! He wanted a "fish" bedroom, but I didn't want to do your typical ocean theme...he chose the colors and we used our imaginations to create a fun, energetic space. Hope you like it too!

This is my son Zanes new bedroom. His brother moved out so it's his space now. Zane loves the beach!
I have recieved many questions about how to do the mural, what are the colors and who made the surfboards...here are the answers:
Mural: Print the straight on pic I posted. Put it on an oldfashioned overhead projector (often can be rented from school or library and trace the projected image on to the blank wall.
Colors: Took the quilt to Sherwin Williams and had them make the colors in the quilt. MOST paint places can do this so pick the colors you like!
Surfboards: email keithtyger@ameritech.net he made them for me off an ebay listing:-
