We were finally able to replace our out-dated, cramped and ugly kitchen just recently. Without adding any sf, we got almost three times the storage, in a kitchen that can now easily accommodate 4 or 5 cooks at the same time together . . . happily! Our goal was to create a beautiful, practical space that would showcase ~ not compete~ with our gorgeous mountain views.

This renovation was done about 2 yrs ago. I really like to cook and the old kitchen just didn't do it for me anymore. Kept the basic layout the same; moved the dishwasher to the other side and centered the stove to give me more counterspace. It's a small space 8x11. Husband and I basically did everything but hang the cabinets and install counters.

These are pictures of our updated makeover of our kitchen. The granite color we used was called Ivory Chiffon. We absolutely love the color! The cabinets are our existing cabinets that were still in great shape. The stainless steel appliances are Jenn-Air except for the wine cooler which is by Haier. The faucet is a beautiful Blanco Faucet. We painted the kitchen Butte Rock by Benjamin Moore. This is a great way to update a kitchen without spending a bundle.

Renovated kitchen in a Mediterranean style home built in the 70's on a small horse farm. Original dark stained cherry cabinetry was refinished just by sanding and sealing and now looks like beautiful glaze.

This is my newly remodeled kitchen! I got a lot of ideas from kitchens here on "Rate My Space". The cabinets are all new following pretty much the same layout as the old cabinets. The wall color is Sherwin Williams "Restrained Gold". The cabinet color is Sherwin Williams "Dover White". The granite countertop is called "Mystic Brown". The backspash is tumbled stone and the color is called "Vallarta". The appliances and fixtures are great.

Our small house had an abysmal kitchen with 5ft of upper and lower cabinets. The 18" base cabinets? Terrible. So we gutted it. Tore down a wall between the kitchen and dining room moved everything around. Favorite item: glass block wall/window stove & hood. It allowed a window there for light.Don't let contractors scare you into thinking that moving plumbing around especially if there is basement access is hard nor should it be overly expensive.

Art Deco inspired contemporary 300 sq ft custom kitchen. We built this kitchen addition and dining room renovation on weekends w/ the help of our friend and professional contractor. It took a long time but it was worth saving about 40K on labor. The cabinets are maple shaker style....base cabinets are charcoal and snow drift top cabinets accented w/ irridescent glass tile backsplash over sink area. Marina pearl granite 10' 3" x 54" tops the snow drift island w/ prep sink, microwave & hidden trash. 17' stretch of counter consists of 6 burner cook top w/ red tiffany glass backsplash and charcoal butler's pantry has glass door upper cabinets. Floor is Italian 16" x 24" porcelain grey w/ random cream tiles in a staggered subway tile layout. The window over sink is 6 feet wide. Full glass side door and 6 foot sliding door to yard bring in lots of natural light. When it snows, you feel like you are standing in a snow globe because of the room shape and windows! Check out our space and let us know if it has the 'wow' factor! Enjoy!

Our kitchen makeover didn't involve changes to the basic arrangement but we did add some nice features.
The grainite countertop is Yellow River which is a pattern with a lot of movement. The edge is mitered to give the appearance of a 2.25 inch thickness. A mitered edge makes it look like the pattern flows over and onto the edge. You have to look for a fabricator who is able and willing to do a mitered edge. It was an additional $600 cost but we think well worth it.
The plywood back was removed from one upper set of cabinets and replaced with glass. The shelves in those cabinets were also replaced with glass.
The pantry was redesigned with custom swing-out units that utilize a piano hinge design. We love the pantry.
One issue was what to do with our large cookbook collection. There wasn't quite enough room for a large book case. The solution was to embed a custom built bookcase into a wall. The result is a large bookcase that only protrudes into the room by about 4 inches.
The sink is a Blanco multi-level with integrated drain board in the bisquit color. We love this sink. hhttp://is.gd/ekdD2

We bought this house 2 years ago and immediately gutted the kitchen, laundry-room, dining area, and living room. We wanted a "great room" where everyone could be close by. Since our home is small it really opened it up and made it feel larger.
