  • Master Retreat, I wanted my bedroom to look and feel like a luxurious hotel, yet have a personality and warmth. I guess one would call it transitional, although I prefer a more modern look. There are old world elements mixed in, by necessity. I also took the liberty of mixing metals throughout by using steel, gold, bronze, and copper finishes. The chandelier in the dressing room feels elegant, while the three-way mirror reflects light back into the room., Bedrooms Design

  • Budget Master Bedroom , This bedding is on the masculine side and came from Bed, Bath & Beyond costing under $150. I added a DKNY white sequin pillow and Pelliccia pillow from Crate & Barrel to give it a more upscale look and reflect the ceiling light creating a pretty glow. The pillows also balance the masculine bedding making it gender neutral. I used the additional pillows that came with the bedding for the window seat for a more cohesive look. The art gives the room a little color and ties in with the window treatments. I got the shag scroll rug (8x10) from OverStock.com and it only cost $300! This is definitely a bedroom on a budget! , Bedrooms Design

  • Serenity in the Sky - Master Bedroom, I live in a highrise apartment and have large expanses of glass in all my rooms. To soften the look of all that glass I hung sheers in the corners over the existing horizontal blinds. I chose a pale blue-grey to set off the dark wood of the furnishings. Accent colors are off white and sage green. The picture over the sofa actually hides the TV. I would do a lot of things differently if it wasn't just an apartment. , Bedrooms Design

  • The lighting... How did you do that?, Some people have asked "How did you get the lighting under the bed?" The lighting is both inexpensive and easy to install. I secured rope lighting inside the bed frame using plastic clips that have an adhesive backing. ...costs about $10 and can be found at most hardware stores. The rope lighting is plugged into an outlet that is connected to a dimmer light switch and can adjusted by a remote control devise. Thanks for all your wonderful comments and encouraging 5-star ratings!, Bedrooms Design

  • Painted it aqua, I painted the room aqua and a few asked to see it. I wanted a bit lighter and added a ton of white and this is the final color. I think it looks much better than the brown. The original is still on here. Better?

  • College Thesis, Instead of using the colors of the Manobo tribe, our group decided to focus on the interesting form of structural developments as the main element of this bedroom. The Manobo tribes are found in the areas of Mindanao in the Philippines and are mostly mountain dwellers. Research has shown that they mostly live in trees. Our design is based on that concept. We were inspired by the masonry blocks that make up an arch and these are redefined in the ceiling of this Manobo bedroom, using three-dimensional modules formed by thin sheets of plywood along curved seams and the design is dependent on the geometric forms of the individual units and their relation to the exhibit walls as it create leafy shadows that evoke the feeling of living in a tree. Our color palette is mostly monochromatic with shades of green and browns that can be found in nature. We also took into consideration the openness of the Manobo house in the layout of our bedroom. Manobos are into mining copper and other minerals, with this in mind we created another design element connecting the study area and the bedroom. It will hold the television and would create a continuity to it. Since our floor area is curved, we made the inner walls curved also to make the space dynamic. Taking all these influences and facts about the Manobo’s, in the end this bedroom boasts modernity in our time and can even be described as avante–garde in a fully functioning sense of interior design that uses its space efficiently with the subtlety of the style of our ancestors. , Bedrooms Design
