Bedrooms

  • Budget Master Bedroom , This bedding is on the masculine side and came from Bed, Bath & Beyond costing under $150. I added a DKNY white sequin pillow and Pelliccia pillow from Crate & Barrel to give it a more upscale look and reflect the ceiling light creating a pretty glow. The pillows also balance the masculine bedding making it gender neutral. I used the additional pillows that came with the bedding for the window seat for a more cohesive look. The art gives the room a little color and ties in with the window treatments. I got the shag scroll rug (8x10) from OverStock.com and it only cost $300! This is definitely a bedroom on a budget! , Bedrooms Design

  • The lighting... How did you do that?, Some people have asked "How did you get the lighting under the bed?" The lighting is both inexpensive and easy to install. I secured rope lighting inside the bed frame using plastic clips that have an adhesive backing. ...costs about $10 and can be found at most hardware stores. The rope lighting is plugged into an outlet that is connected to a dimmer light switch and can adjusted by a remote control devise. Thanks for all your wonderful comments and encouraging 5-star ratings!, Bedrooms Design

  • Hotel-like Master Bedroom, The paint on the walls is from Benjamin Moore. The original color was #1619 - Silver Mist. I had the paint store make it more of a gray-blue. So it ended up being a custom color. The pictures have been raised a bit and the silver E has been relocated. Thanks for looking!, Bedrooms Design

  • Hotel-like Master Bedroom Retreat, With three small children, my husband and I definitely deserve a restful, beautiful room. I created this space to feel sophisticated and elegant without being TOO ornate. The elegance of the furniture is balanced with the simple beauty of the lamps and mirror. My husband has to live in this room, too, so this is a nice balance of feminine and masculine by using black, leather and nail-head trim. The walls are Valspar's "Lighthouse Shadows". The ceiling is "Cream in My Coffee". Since the ceiling is vaulted, we added the molding to "bring the ceiling down" and create a cozier space. Painting the ceiling the same color as the upper wall helped complete this feel.
The bedding was surprisingly purchased at Walmart about 2 years ago. I made the curtains, wall monogram and headboard with a little muscle from hubby. I removed the original "matchy matchy" mirror on the dresser and added this large solid wood one from Homegoods - only $50! Other accessories in the room are from Marshalls, Target, Homegoods, Ross, etc. I successfully convinced my husband to take down the ceiling fan and put up the chandelier instead...bought at Home Depot.
I finally LOVE our bedroom and the feeling it brings us., Bedrooms Design

  • Blue Bedroom, I am a bargin shopper and love making something old new or using something in a different way. My curtains are actually tableclothes that cost $10 per window. The chair is a $15 Salvation Army find with $10 of white fabric to recover( not finished yet) and a coat of black paint. White quilt $30 with $4 of brown ribbon added. Dresser painted black and yellow pillows are cloth napkins that were on clearance for $2 you can't beat $2 to cover 2 old pillows.
I find it difficult to decorate a 40+ year old home but I am overall pretty happy with what I have done, Bedrooms Design

  • My process to create a royal bedroom.. , This is my bedroom I have before and after of the actual bed that I bought from JC Penny for $600. The form was great but the finish was cheap.. The wall panels I hand painted copied from 18th century panels I found in a book called the French Archive.... and the cornice I made with plywood and the plastic moulding you can buy at Lowes. all painted and gilt aged to resemble and old antique for practically nothing. , Bedrooms Design
