The thrill of this redecorating job for a neighbor is the challenge of using all of the existing furnishings (except she did need new lamps, which I chose for the room, and I bought a blue large area rug as well). Blended Cottage and French Country and this is how it turned out, but we still have a few tweaks! There is a series of doors in the back of this room-the one next to the dresser in the 2nd b4 pic is actually a storage closet with shelving, about 14" deep. I'm removing the door completely, painting the back wall of the closet to match the tomato red color in the drapes but leaving the shelves white-and making it a built in bookcase. I have a sewing professional who made the drapes, but I bought the fabric and hardware at Calico Home. Pics are b-4 and after and I'm loving the room so far. I was not able to purchase anything for the walls, but was required to use all the artwork scattered throughout the "old" room and some from other rooms-all of the art has sentimental value and importance to the owners and in some cases, original artwork, done by friends!
