I watched the unveiling of the 2009 HGTV Dream Home back in early Jan, and fell in LOVE with the master bedroom. I chose a completely different shade of green, but completely copied/plaegerized the rest... I didn't buy all the high-end stuff, rather found budget alternatives made possible with some painting and upholstery and sewing skills (my mom said "if you can read you can cook, if you can read, you can sew..." so there was no excuse for me not learning how to do these things. It was good advice, as I save a bundle on decorating. I LOVE this room - it's my sanctuary. Feels very fresh, spa-like, and I just feel healthy in there with all this happy green. I still need to put in the new HW flooring and ditch the nasty, stained w2w carpet.... and also will add a 10'x10' white area rug when floor is in. So it's 99% done. Shutter screen is hiding a big, ugly treadmill and the shutter cabinet holds a 26" flat screen TV and electronics. The vanity is still brown since having it white would completely upset the balance & symmetry of the white-on-green bed area and would be too "matchy matchy tacky." The intent is that I don't want it to be seen, but rather the vanity is necessary for functionality. Whent the floor is in, it will just disappear into the shadows of the dark floor. All the bedding is white and has interest via texture and tone. I am also working on adding two mirrors, in beveled mirror frames behind the nightstands. Adds sparkle and reflects lots of light.

This room is breathtakingly gorgeous!!! I love the crisp white with the green. Your bedding is amazing and I cannot wait to see pics with the new hardwood floor. Are you going dark or light? Good luck!

I tried to see how you did the canopy section over the bed. Can you tell me more? Is there only the velcro curtains at the top and bottom or is there curtains/fabric in the middle too?

Love this, doing the same thing in my bedroom with a ceiling mounted canopy, but going with the dark emerald green walls like HGTV 2009. Beautifully done!

The panels surrounding the bed are just 108" panels from bed bath and beyond which I did a running baste stitch across the top, then pulled one thread to "pleat" it to the right width. I then stitched the loopy end of velcro to the panel, and stapled the hook side of velcro to 1"x1" piece of wood, cut to same length of the panel and then screwed the wood to the celing. I can then take the panels down (because they're held up by velcro to wash them. : for those of you who convinced their hubby to do this! :

Love the green! Glancing at it, I would have thought the green might overwhelm the room, but it's actually very calming and serene looking. It looks so fresh with the white and the lighting is perfect.

I would also love to know how exactly you created the drapery around the bed. It is VERY rare for my husband and I to agree on decor and we both want to recreate much of what you have done with this room in our own room. I'd like to figure out how to do this before he changes his mind!

and may i suggest one thing to really make it pop you should add a chandelier right above the bed just to give a little bit of glitz!
