It's free and easy.
My bedroom was cramped, gaudy, and stuffy. The colors were harsh, and the room was crammed full of ugly, heavy furniture we never used. I decided to sell the set for 1500. I completely emptied the room, and replaced every single item - including the nasty mini blinds - for 1000 dollars. I made some of my own art, furniture, and shelving, refurbished pieces left on the side of the road, sewed my own window treatments, and bought used and clearance items. I slapped the picture ledges together in about ten minutes using old fence boards we had saved. Because my husband and I spend most of our free time either outside or in the bedroom, I decided to create a suite in which we could lounge, watch TV, eat, or just lay around in bed. It was tricky, but even though we have more distinct areas in the room now, it seems far more spacious than before. The floors look much warmer in the photos than they actually are, but I still want to purchase a room-size rug for the space. We're saving up for that, and are still uncertain of what type of rug to purchase. I realize the shelf between the windows is too high. However, I wanted to make space for the fan, and I plan to hang my robe under the shelf, once I finish prepping a piece of matching wood, with chunky chrome hooks.
