My bedroom was boring. Nothing on the walls, only clutter on the bedside tables and the bed linens were tired. I turned to my friend for help. My furniture traditional, dark and heavy which is polar opposite of my friends taste. He suggested we play off the mint green contrast wall and try to hide the dark furniture as well as bring in more modern pieces to lighten the room up. On a shoestring budget he did the following. Grouped 4 colorful prints from IKEA over my dresser, brought in a beautiful painted terracotta horse sculpture, some books, stacked under the horse. A ebony and ivory inlaid box from Home Goods. An IKEA lamp with fabric shade in the corner for under $20. Hid most of the dark headboard with bright two tone green euro pillows. Placed new standard pillows and decorative pillows in front. Found a Barbara Barry Ivory quilt on ebay. Above the headboard a group of three micro photographs. To the right of the bed, (outside of picture clutter was removed from the night stand and replaced with a chrome Ralph Lauren swing arm table lamp found at Home Goods. I wish I had "before" pictures to show the improvement.
