The exterior and landscape of our home makes it the eyesore of our street. We really want to do something to improve it.... we just don't know what!! Please Help!

This is the master bedroom in the MyHomeIdeas 2008 Idea House we recently won. The bed, lamps and tables came with the room, so we only had to add artwork and decor. The vintage barkcloth and wine (or purple walls gave the room a coastal vibe that inspired our choices. Paint color: Benjamin Moore Kalamata. The flooring is a SeaGrass carpet -- very beachy. The home is a vacation rental named Summer Dream located in Windmark Beach, on the Northwest Florida Coast.

I've been moving things around here quite a bit lately: I finally found the perfect spot for our tiki-hut - it as a little bit too big for the entrance and wasn't very functional there. We have a lot of people over, so it's perfect to keep the glass water container on it all the time now. We also got new ceiling fans - it's very hot here in Hawaii, and I wanted the fans to look more tropical so I got the woven leaf look. We added more seating and changed a few more things around:

This is the upstairs from the beach house remodel that were posted on some of my other rooms. This whole space was completely repurposed to accomodate the star of the show-the ocean view! It serves as a family/great room dining/gaming space bedroom and bar.

This is our contribution to the Beach House we won from MyHomeIdeas. What was once a child's room has been transformed into our new Sunrise Guest Suite. The bed was given to us by MyHomeIdeas. We painted the once beige walls with Sherwin Williams Jovial. The coral lamps came from LampsPlus. We've tried to give the room a beachy vibe by adding sea-themed artwork. The fish on the walls are porcelain platters. The mirrored frames showcase teal painted sea fans.

My daughter wanted her room to look and feel like a beach. We covered her window and her closet space with roll-up bamboo shades topped with raffia grass. Her jambox sits on an icechest (which contains her skates etc.. Her bedspread is made of beach towels and I painted all of her walls to "be" a beach complete with palm trees shells a hermit crab sandpipers and soaring seagulls. With the door closed you can almost smell the sea breeze!

Our house needs a new look! What color should we paint the window trim, the decking, and handrail. The house needs some character with landscaping as well. Also looking for advise on decorating the deck with outdoor patio lights and furniture, ect. We feel that the house is too bland and it needs some character. We live in a house that is 1,600 sq. ft. on the main level, and 1,200 sq. ft. on the lower level. It has a light grey vinyl shake siding called "weathered white". The windows are trimmed out in cedar painted white. It has double hung white windows, and two white french doors facing the lake. The lakeside is considered the front. There is a front deck that wraps around to the back of the home and it is a grey Trex maintenance-free decking. The deck railing is cedar painted white with aluminum spindals. The gutter is 6 in., 1/2 round, galvalium. There is a detached garage with the same siding, trim, and gutter. There is no lanscaping to speak of. We are desparately needing advise on how to create a shabby chic look, that is fun, and inviting, but yet elegant.

We just built our dream beach house in Port Aransas, Texas. My husband and I designed the layout while I had a blast designing the interiors with the help of my daughter. We will eventually rent the house to vacationers and Texas snowbirds, while spending our own special moments here with our family and friends.

We decorated this floor as a nautical/beachy/coastal island retreat. This floor has the kitchen, dining, and fireplace areas with a half bath and a balcony. Counters are blue, quartz solid and cabinets are white, beaded board. The entire floor has large, ceramic tiles.(sand colored of course White walls have white wainscoting to be a background for colorful accents.

These are the screened porches and decks from the Summer Dream Vacation Home we won from MyHomeIdeas.com . It was the 2008 WindMark Idea House, and now is a vacation rental in WindMark Beach along Northwest Florida's Forgotten Coast. The furniture was provided to us from Frontgate. Dale Trice was the designer with only minor touches provided by us.
