March 2013 we decided to hire out the last big remodel, upstairs "jack & Jill" bath. With one toilet, a second sink area neither used, and three pocket doors breaking up the space, we needed a better bath. We got 2 full modern baths with one as off master suite.

This is a newly constructed master bathroom. I went with a vintage feel using hexagon tiles on shower floor and adding a claw foot tub. Dark beadboard cabinetry, glass knobs and carrara marble counters. I was inspired by a recent stay at Watch Hill's newly rebuilt Oceanhouse Hotel in Rhode Island.
Wall paint color is Benjamin Moore Beach Glass.

Everything original 1959 pink bath with pink tub, sink, toilet, pink tile floor, pink tile countertop, and giant window right inside the shower. This bath had one light fixture over the sink, and one over the tub area. Although this hall bath had been well maintained, it needed to be freshened up on a tight budget.
Researched reglazing for the tub, and walls. Replaced the tile floor, vanity, sink, and toilet. Added 4 recessed lights, 2 wall sconces on dimmers. Raised the shower head up by 11 inches and added sprayer.
Now, this bath has all the bells and whistles of a high end bath, and our total spent was right about $1,400.

This is the master bathroom in our home built in 1899. We just completed this massive renovation which included closing off a wall, moving plumbing and having a custom vanity installed.

I renovated this bathroom on a $2,400 budget. It was a typical builder grade bathroom with inexpensive fixtures. I purchased new drop-in sinks and oil-rubbed bronze faucets, and used oak flooring for the countertop. I painted the existing vanity, had hidden electrical outlets installed inside (because I dislike cords, designed a ceiling-to-floor jewelry cabinet (behind the door and between-the-studs, and used outdoor wainscoting for the tub decking and backsplash. I purchased the Victorian shutters, and antique swing-away drapery rods, mirror, and light fixtures at flea markets. My make-up is hidden in an antique candy box, and my toiletries are hidden inside an antique glove holder.

I haven't uploaded in a while. Here is a pic of my newest reno. My main floor powder room needed some TLC. I went with a black and white theme and I love how it turned out.

Purchased 1950's home and have been working hard on the renovations. Knocked out wall between toilet and sink (see before picture. Shopped sales and had fun selecting accessories while staying on a budget. Will post pictures of other rooms soon. Guess we never quite finish...always a work in progress! Suggestions appreciated.

We transformed our old 70s master bathroom/closet combo into a spa retreat. My husband had to build us custom closets in the bedroom to house our clothes, but it was so worth it to have this amazing relaxing space to unwind.

Our "basic builder" bathroom previously consisted of a 5x8 space with your basic, boring white vanity, white tub, and white cheap-o tile, and boring wall paper. We were inspired by several of the bathrooms we saw on this website plus many HGTV shows that gave us the inspiration we needed. We wanted a contemporary spa feel with modern amenities. Although our space is small we took advantage of the high 9' ceiling by running the tile all the way to the ceiling and installing 4" recessed lighting. This really draws your eye up! We used 18x18 tiles on the wall, 6x6 on the shower floor, and a great 1" tile around the vanity and toilet. It's actually a mix of glass tile and slate. The vanity, sink, and faucet were purchased on-line and the mirror was cut locally to fit the exact space.
We are thrilled at the transformation and can't believe how much bigger our 5x8 space now appears!
ADDED INFO-- Thank you all for the kind comments, we are amazed at the feedback! Thank You! Several questions have been asked about the cost and materials, so here's the info....
COST-- We loved the comment about estimating the cost at $40,000. Actually, it cost $8,000 for everything.
DESIGNER-- Someone asked if we hired a professional designer. Nope. We are addicted to HGTV and picked up lots of tips and ideas from the show (esp. Candice, Vern, Angelo and David Bromstad and this website. We purchased all of the materials ourselves. We did some of the work ourselves and hired a great contractor for the tough stuff.
FAUCET-- Purchased at ExpressDecor.com for $139
VANITY-- It's a Decolav vanity (5510-ES that includes the sink. EveryVesselSink.com for $900
TILE-- All purchased at Expo (Isn't it a shame that they are all closing!. 1x1 Glass Tile/Slate were the most expensive of all of the materials! $32/sf. From Oceanside Glass Tile (glasstile.com it's Geologie High Desert. The 18x18 shower wall tile is from Daltile (5202 Golddust @ $2/sf. The 6x6 shower floor tile is CTI Tile (Rex Shabui, Charcoal Black.
MIRROR- cut locally and custom frame from Aaron Brothers.
PAINT-- Sherwin-Williams (SW6078 Realist Beige.
Thanks again for all of the kind remarks! If we can do it-- so can you!

When we built our gameroom we made it two stories so that we could have a place for pool downstairs and a place for ping pong upstairs since my husband loves ping pong.
We needed a bathroom in the space but space was an issue because both ping pong and pool require room for play. We decided to configure the stairs such that we could tuck in a compact bath beneath. It has been surprisingly difficult to get a good picture of the space but I will post what I have. The door is a barn type sliding door that closes on the outside of the bathroom giving us the benefit of a precious additional 4 inches that would have been lost with use of a pocket door. When the door is closed it appears to be a continuation of the wooden panel wall. The key features of the bath are the bright red sink and the white veined black marble flooring. The entire bathroom except the ceiling is tiled in black subway tile and grouted with black grout. The toilet is also black. This allows the sink and the mirror to really be the features since the room is too small to have a lot of competing elements. The space was too tight for a regular glass shower door so I made a shower liner and a decorative solid black drapery panel to set it off. I had three glass companies come out to see if they could figure out a glass shower door solution. I know shower curtains strike a nerve with some but in this case it was the only viable option. I used a crowd control cord like movie theaters and opera houses use. Found one in black with chrome latches. I cut it off to the right length, attached it to the wall and made a masculine looking curtain tie-back. We installed a recessed light in the shower that also has a ventilation fan hidden within. This makes showing with light possible in spite of the shower curtains blocking out the lights over the sink. We use florescent bulbs to avoid hot bulbs and glass shades touching the curtain. Glossy black shelves were installed behind the toilet for extra storage. Decorative jars beneath the sink serve double duty to store extra paper products, travel sized soaps and shampoos, sun block for pool side and the like. This bathroom is indeed compact but nowhere must one squeeze or contort to get to the sink, toilet or into the shower. My oldest son is a big guy and he navigates the space just fine as was our space tester. I will work on getting better photos.

Our guest/pool bath. Kept existing light tile countertop and faucet. Painted vanity white and gave it a "furniture" look and new hardware. (DH had a cow! Installed chair rail small crown molding and framed the mirror. Everyone insists faux finish is wallpaper. More DIY stuff on my blog http://www.ratemyfavoritespaces.com

I wanted this bathroom to be luxurious and make you feel like you were in a 5 star hotel. Travertine throughout (noce, tumbled edge, Brizo faucets and custom vanity surrounds. I thought the chandelier was a nice finishing touch. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

My kids are getting a little older so I updated their bathroom by painting over a frog mural and making a botanical room. I attached matchstick blinds to the ceiling for texture.

Well, I know this is absolutely not everyone's bathroom! ha ha
I just wanted this house to be as theatrical, whimsical and out of bounds as my fun wanted to go. So... I have always loved that moulin rouge feel. What better place than where your female guests have to freshen up? Sorry guys, no offense, although the men seem to really love it. It's hard to get the real feel by photos but it's all I have.
