TRY TATOOAGE ON THE WALLS FOR THE FAUX LOOK.

Yes painting the ceiling a very light sky blue would look great. Then paint the walls a similar light color only with very slight gray undertones in it. Then to create a feeling of width I would do a wide, maybe 15 inches or so, brown stripe going horizontally across the toilet wall only. Just on the flat part above the toilet. Not the angled part. That would create an illusion of width. I would paint the vanity espresso brown and also purchase an espresso brown toilet seat. Then get a large round or oval mirror framed in the same color. I can't tell how much room there actually is above the sink, but just get as big as you can.Then on the wall opposite the mirror just get 3 small modern and simple prints to dress it up a little. I would recommend a dark color on the back wall all the way up to the ceiling. Something like a chocolate brown. The side walls a lighter corresponding color. This will create the illusion of depth. Large floor tiles will work or since it is only 8 feet deep you could use solid hardwood flooring. Just use pieces long enough that you do not have to join them. The continuous run will "lengthen" the room. A pedistal sink would open the space up. A single towel bar (not brass would be all you would need for the 1/2 bath.

Such an easy fix. To create a larger space, paint the ceiling only a light blue sky color, and the walls a light cream/tan color. Change out the bath fixtures to a small pedestal sink and small toilet from the same line. Buy only a white regular, not cushion toilet seat. Lose all the accessories, especially the TP holder, nobody wants to look at that. The angled wall above the toilet, paint a faux (fake window with sky,pastel flowers and sun streaming in. You can either buy a book or take a class at any craft store. This will give your 1/2 bath style, color, interest as well as opening the space by creating the illusion of a window. Replace the flooring tile to at least 12" X 12" at a diagonal. This will also open up the space tremendously. Don't forget to add nice white baseboard. Let me know how it goes. I would love to see the after pictures. Oh yeah, no rug.
