About This Space

I just bought a 1962 Ranch house that has only had two owners in the past 50 years. Almost everything is as built. I want to keep most of the original features but up date a bit to freshen things up. What should I do with this bathroom floor? Travertine to blend with the tile is what I'm thinking but mid-century design is not my expertise. Help! Ideas?

The sinks and faucets are 1980's, as is the carpeting. The tile is Gadding McBean and is original. I was lucky to get the plans to the home. There is fake terrazzo under the carpet. The vinyl stuff with gold dust... blah. It's in the kitchen too.

This isn't a 60's bath. The basins, low profile toilet, and plumbing fixtures are much more current than that. The fixtures look to be mid 90's. People were doing those tiled sunken tubs in the late 80's I think. They are VERY uncomfortable.. Tile and grout are not kind to bare fannies. Were it me, I'd go for a sleeker look by changing the brass to brushed nickel, and changing the tile for a different material. It would be helpful to know what's under the carpet. It does have to go.
