I used a Wagner Paint Crew airless sprayer. It holds a couple of gallons or so, and is very easy to use. I had never used one before. I borrowed it from a friend,and it had a fairly large nozzle, so it delivered a lot of paint. Just make sure you use a primer, otherwise the finish paint will be sucked into the wood and probably won't stick too well on ductwork and other metals. I did one coat of primer and 2 top coats of black in one day. Do this before you do any other wall painting or putting your finished floor down. It is a little messy. Wear a full paper coverall, latex gloves, hat, goggles. Anything exposed on you will be painted. Floating paint particles in the air dried on the way to the floor and made lots of dust to be swept up.

I absolutely love your basement. I am in the process of doing my basement and want to know
how difficult is it to use a professional spray gun on the unfinished ceiling. Are they as dangerous as I have been reading about?

OK, I have never seen anything come even close to what you have accomplished in your basement. You don't say how much $$ it took for this look but this is really fabulous looking - LOVE all of it!! HGTV needs to contact you both to be on the next Design Star show.
