  • Our Baby's Dream Nursery, We remolded the whole room my husband put in chair rail and crown molding. My mom who is my interior designer had Sherwin Williams match the blue and chocolate in the crib bedding. We painted the blue on top and the chocolate on the bottom of the chair rail. She also designed a perfect 36 by 36 square above the crib and my husband boxed it with picture molding. We then painted 4 shadow box frames and hung them in the square to capture his first moments into the world. , Nurseries Design

  • My baby's chocolate and pink dream land! , This is my little girl's nursery! I wanted to design her room in such a way that I could easily transition it to a "big girl" room once she was ready! I painted the walls myself as well as refinished the white shelf and desk (which we used as a changing table when she was an infant). Please tell me what you think and I would love suggestions...especially on how to transition it to a "big girls room" since we are taking down her crib this weekend and putting up her "big girl" bed! , Nurseries Design

  • My Dream Kitchen, After 2 years of looking in magazines, watching shows and thinking about what I really wanted, we finally did it. We did a complete kitchen remodel, and I love it! In my old kitchen there was not enough storage.....now I actually have more than I need! ( time to s-h-o-p !! ) My husband and I did all the design work, and painted ourselves. We hired workers to do the rest. The cabinets were custom made, and hand glazed. The gentlemen that did the work were true artists. The flooring is travertine, we used it in the main living space. The cabinets are done in ivory with a chocolate glaze, and the island and bar area is done in a chocolate brown color, with a black glaze. We used maple for the ivory cabinets, and cherry for the island and bar area. Everything was done custom....so I really got what I wanted. The drawers have the slow close feature. We have pull out spice racks, lazy susan in the corner, hidden trash cans, and lots of roll outs...woo-hoo! I love the hood a lot...even it has storage. We had all custom lighting done. Everything is on dimmers, and you can light up each area as you want. We added under cabinet lighting, and have puck lights put in the display cabinets, and the glass ones. I added beadboard to some areas, and I love it. We did an induction cooktop ( LOVE LOVE IT! ) 42 inch built in fridge, wall oven, warming drawer, and a microwave/high speed convection oven. ( all KitchenAid appliances ) I love having 2 ovens when we need it, but it's a microwave the rest of the time! We put a wine fridge in the bar area, and installed a new dishwasher. We put panels on everything that we could...I love that look! I wanted the appliances to blend in. Our backsplash is stone and glass...we still have one more thing to add to the area under the hood. I did an apron sink, which I LOVE. ( I have wanted one of those forever! ). The faucet, pot filler , cabinet knobs and pulls are all done in an oil rubbed bronze finish. I love that look...they are a dark chocolate color. We did granite for the counter tops, and they have an " ogee " edge on them. We also did the laundry room/pantry area too. Now it has all matching cabinets, and we added a pocket door. We even had a custom cat area done!! it's wonderful....a special place for our kitty to have her liter box and food/water bowls. I am soooooo happy!!! It was completed just a day before x-mas eve! It still feels like a dream : )

UPDATE: you asked .....the light above the island is Golden Lighting 8606-10 RBZ , Multi Light Pendant, Rubbed Bronze . The paint color is Olympic, Sauteed Mushroom, the granite is called Giallo Ornamental. ( we selected slabs with a little more movement ).

ALSO....you few of you have asked about the unfinished things. Please remember, we worked till 11 pm on dec. 23rd! This was as far as we got. The base boards and paint in the pantry will be done this week. I will also be adding some personal touches, and a bit of color. We also have a wall that I have not shown pics of yet ( its opposite the oven/bar wall ) I will be making that a family wall ( calendar, pics, kids schedule, etc. ) I am going to add a " menu for the day " on there as well. I think it will be adorable when I am done. I am thinking of doing magnetic spice jars on that wall too....what do you all think? soooo much to think about, it can be stressful!! Plus, now that the kitchen is done, I have to think about what I will do in the family room, which is of the kitchen..its a very open floor plan. It needs to flow.
Happy Holidays!!!! : ), Kitchens Design

I had all this uploaded, with over 2,000 ratings..and it is just GONE! : (
You can click on the file, but no pics..I have no idea what happened. I hope it works this time....

After looking in magazines, and watching many decorating shows, we finally did our dream kitchen. This is the first home we have ever purchased, as my husband was a Navy pilot. We lived on the Navy base most of his career, or rented. It's nice to finally have something that is all mine. Now that we bought a house, I can have fun making it a " HOME " : )

We just did a complete kitchen remodel...it was done the week before x-mas. Everything was custom done....maple and cherry was used. We chose ivory with a chocolate glaze and chocolate brown with a black glaze. All the lighting is custom...each display shelf is lit, we have under cabinet lighting, and a chandalier over the island. Everything is on dimmers. Our backsplash is a combination of stone and glass. We have a Perrin and Rowe, by Rohl, faucet. We have a Kohler apron sink. Our appliances are paneled, and they are KitchenAid. Our granite is " Giallo Ornamental "...and it has a ogee edge. We have a bar/coffee area. We have double ovens, microwave and warming drawer. Our drawers are all slow close. We have double trash cans that pull out, and a lazy susan. We used oil rubbed bronze for the hardware. We did a pantry/laundry room as well...everything custom there too. We even added a special area for our kitty...for her liter box and water/food bowls. ( she is part of the family too!! )

UPDATE: here are some answers to questions you all asked. The paint color is called Sauteed Mushroom, by Olympic paints. Our flooring is travertine..classic tan. ( done in a french pattern ) . The chandalier over the island is by Golden Lighting, ( # 8606-10 RBZ ) it's oil rubbed bronze.

  • Owl-fully Precious!, When we moved, my little girl was 15 mos! We wanted to transition her into a toddler bed but this room wouldnt accomodate a toddler bed with a crib, so the crib had to go, and when we found this gorgeous bed at the Broyhill Furniture Outlet, the idea of a toddler bed went out the window as well! Luckily she stayed in the bed and never had a transitioning issue. The other furniture is from the 1970's and is Bassett. It was my parents and was repainted for her nursery! My daughter obviously has an owl/fairy/garden theme!, Girls' Rooms Design

  • Jackson's Nursery, We just finished up the final touches on his room today. We tried to keep it simple with somewhat neutral colors so it will be easy to change things as he gets older. We used the Baby Martex Pro Flyer bed set and the letters above the crib we had hand painted from a lady we found on ebay called "little everythings". She did such a great job! We also had our switch plates painted to match the bedding as well. , Nurseries Design
