When we moved into this craftsman style home, the walls were white and tan carpet on the floor. We were thankful the woodwork had never been painted. The armoire is from our bedroom set and wouln't fit up the staircase...so here it is in the dining room. I was detrmined to make it "work." First I needed to find a table that would work, and a room color that would warm the space up. I still need to paint the ceiling and find window treatments. We found a 1930 art deco chadelier that matched the other lights in the house and in ajoining rooms. It has sort of a terra cotta color and I am not sure if it is distracting since I found the rug long before the light, but I really like the rug. Thoughts? Ideas on ceiling paint and window treatments are also welcome!

We haven't done much in here except paint the walls a neutral beige color. I would love some color inspiration... I tend to lean towards "safe" colors, and feel stumped with this living room. With our dark wood trim and our brown and beige furnishings I have no idea what color would look good on the walls. Any suggestions???

This bath was created using beautiful octogon tile with flower inserts to match the hand carvings on the custom cabinets that we designed. The armoire piece outside the bathroom is actually a kitchenette the doors open back for a sink and microwave while the drawers on the bottom hide a dishwasher and fridge drawer.

A friend asked me to redesign her daughters room for her 13th birthday. She gave me her wishes and this is the outcome! She now calls it "Club Zen" and her party stayed in her room all night!

This is our nearly 1 yr old twin girls nursery. I have been switching things around to make it more cozy and trying to make it work with what we have. Not alot of $ right now so I do what I can. I have switched some things and changed and added so I will upload those when I am finished.

When my husband and I bought a "handy man's" special 4 years ago we started with a 140 year old farmhouse that had been gutted in the 70's and done on the cheap...We're doing it on the cheap too but by recycling and doing all the labor ourselves. As we proceed I'm learning old crafts with new products and applications.Th kitchen started with dropped ceilings flourescent lights and raised floors. Underneathwere the fabulous "bones" of a 19th century post & beam...4 rooms done; 6 to go

This living room space is long (23.8' x 14.2' with cathedral ceilings. We use half the room for family time (watching tv, reading books, playing games. The other half of the room is used for the kids play area.
The previous owners created this gigantic fireplace focal area, with a mirror above it. I'm not a fan of mirrors around the house, so I suction cupped our family pictures to the mirror. We haven't used the fireplace in 5 years, so I decided to ignore it while arranging the furniture.
Our dog's beds are hidden behind the couch near the fireplace because there's no other place for them.
After 5+ years living in this house, this is the best furniture arrangement we've been able to come up with. I haven't decided on a wall color and have no idea how expensive it would be to get rid of that giant fireplace mantle. Since we own the house, we can do as we wish. I am at HGTV's mercy, please give me your ideas. Thanks.

This 1970's boring kitchen was transformed into a beautiful French Castle kitchen. All the original cabinets were saved and just redone with molding and glass. Now the kitchen is open and provides more seating for our six grown children on cook out nights.

This is a small 'master' bedroom. With a long weekend and under $500.00, my husband and I were able to transform boring, unorganized, mismatch into a cozy, romantic space that we love!

A white palette provides a light elegance for new and vintage pieces within a small space, whether it is a cottage or a small apartment. The lightness of space that white creates is romantic, open, and uplifting. Two cans of pale aqua and pure white semigloss took care of tables, picture and mirror frames, lamp bases, hat boxes, even the armoire. Before I started, I took all decor down and put back only that which I truly loved. It's not easy to disconnect with some things, but to get the fresh space, it has to be done. I can always rotate items. Curtains, sofa slipcover, bedroom sheets & pillows Target. White soft throw & pillows, sliver candle pedestal, & glass votives Pier One. Mint julep cups Michaels. Even the table coverint is an extra curtain panel. Bedroom throw TJ Maxx. This really was so ridiculously low budget, but the results are fabulous.

This kitchen renovation takes a 1970s eyesore and transforms it into a space that combines French Country with coastal comfort. I used a Nichols and Stone French Country table for inspiration.
