I renovate homes for a living. It was my dream to renovate a Mediterranean Style home and I had the opportunity to do so in 2007. It was so much fun! Enjoy!

A new master bathroom suite in our 1905 Craftsman features a large Kohler freestanding soaking tub in an arched grotto, his& hers showers with skylights above all in a glass enclosed wet bath. Dual twin sinks, a toilet and sitting bench occupy the front dry bath area. The tub, toilet and linen tower were found for on Craigslist for 90%-off retail which not only saved us money but allowed us to recycle with style! Designed by the owners, a husband/wife team of artists in Los Angeles with work completed by Angel City Builders of Los Angeles.

60% completed so far. Remaining work to be done: doors and drawer fronts, backsplash, hutch and island unit, floor. Everything is handbuilt so progress is slow.

We had a standard prefabricated metal fireplace installed and our builder tried to make it look more custom by creating an arch design with the stone, but it was still missing something. You can purchase this screen at www.fireplacesafetyscreen.com

Continuing on the bold and bright trend (at least as it pertains to my house -which incidentally is for sale- here are some photos of the living room. This room sets the trend for the entire house: not a stuffy formal room but a canvas where I expressed my love for warm colors.

1920s home, in progress bedroom. Furniture just purchased for a song. Hubby likes mission/arts n' crafts, I wanted more glam so this is our compromise. The area rug is Hubbies grandmothers, inherited - it stays and the colors blend (except the rose!. The room is 24x14 or so. The closets are tiny and have original mirrored doors. Glass doorknobs throughout the home. The picture molding stays but may be modified to one large pic. molding behind the bed rather than the two divided there now. I love the ocean and am thinking of a panoramic print with an espresso frame. Think ocean and sand colors. I think it may go well. Needs wall color, thinking of a complimentary neutral tan/beige with a soft blue ceiling. What do you all think??

A Small "U' Shape Kitchen can be packed full of style and function. The goal was to create a space that felt like a fresh waterfront look that is also modern with a hint of vintage details. Equally important to the redesign was function and maximum storage. I think we accomplished both in this kitchen in our weekend Lake House. Let me know what your thoughts are....thanks for your time.

This is a custom home I designed and which was built for my clients a couple of years ago. I tried to give the home the Old world touches like Earth tone tinted Stucco, real tumbled Field stone, exposed headers, Mesquite doors. and wood and wrought iron gates, and gas lamps while keeping the home up to date as well. The front tower balcony has a beautiful view of the Sedona red rocks and The Chapel and the owners enjoy this view over their morning coffee.

It was remodeled in the 1990's with a new cabinets and appliences. I have rebuilt the oven, replaced the fridge and mircowave. Stainless steel hood is on its way and a new dishwasher is coming soon. I have no idea what color if an to paint my cabinet and what color I should use for the countertops! I am thinking black cabinets with grey countertops? The walls are deep blue and the opposing wall is brown that goes all the way up the ceiling.
UPDATE: We have went with a nice grey for a more modern feel. I have replaced all the lighting with brushed nickle fixtures with albaster shades. We have decided to go with the cabinets with some helpful tips from everyone on this board. We were gong to do tealight on them but people said it looked to country kitchen which is NOT us. I am also installing three 4 inch canned lights above each entry way. One from the garage door, one from the backdoor, and one from the living room entrance. We are going to leave the blue around the cabinets but we are going to paint the rest grey.I am going to post the in progress pictures now. Any tips or hints would help! Thanks!
We also picked a light grey from the flooring for the ceiling and opposing wall - we are ditching the brown, to dark. DO WE PAINT THE DOORS AND TRIM TO THE CABINET COLOR OR DO WE GO WHITE? HELP! LOL ALSO what about taking down all the two light fixtures and installing canned lights?? what do you think?

When we talk about blending home and garden this is a perfect example.
Drawing on California's Spanish Colonial architectural heritage, the garden works to enhance the architecture of the home. The plants, common to the Mediterranean, are both colorful and drought tolerant. The use of wrought iron is a tradition directly from the Old World. It is timeless, durable and looks like jewelry.
