I am proud to show off my new and improved kitchen finally! We knocked out a huge pantry and expanded the kitchen to add more counterspace and cabinets. The problem was we could not find a match to our old 1980's cabinets so we started looking in the paper for used cabinets in hopes of finding the style. After almost a year we finally bought basic cabinets at Lowes and since we could not duplicate(and did not want the dark finish I decided to faux paint them woodgrain to match our floors. The grey is Valspar tinted primer with antiquing gel applied and the woodgrain is also by Valspar with my application of gel and paint to look like wood. With our son's help this project cost less than $2,000.
Luckily, even though I would like a new countertop my old counters were still available to match. The tile backsplash was only $165 to do! The pulls are twig and leaves from Lowes. I wanted a woodsey kind of look (even though I kept all my tins so I handpainted branches with birds and squirrels along the top of the tile. We bought new lighting with leaves for our three lights and the middle light is an old window with the fixture secured underneath. The new cabinets have a faux arch to fool your eye into thinking they match the old ones...my husband routed out the drawer fronts to match the old ones...we think the result is pretty good...what do you think??

My parents have a 16 room two story home which has been featured in every magazine imaginable. My mom was the talent behind the design. She passed away in 2008 and my twin sister and I keep her gardens alive. We give tours throughout the year as my mom's legacy lives on.

I love spending time out here reading and having my morning coffee and night time adult beverage. Anyone care to join me. We give garden tours. I love it in the spring, however the summer has lots of flowers. The downside is in the Fall and Winter it doesn't look so inviting.

This is my bedroom - I found my bed at a garage sale - $40.00. I hate to hang anything over my bed to take away from the height of my headboard - but if I found the right piece.

We bought our Dutch style furniture 31 years ago and good furniture does last. I still love the pretty carved wood that gives the room a warm look. I have collected salt-glaze pottery for years which my husband made a shelf for displaying it. He also made the cute blue shelf for other old items displayed in the room. Our fireplace was made by hand by my talented husband and even though he had never done stonework I love the finished look. The mantle is a rough log we had cut and milled to get a chunky look.

This was the first room of the B&B we finished and decorated. It kinda has an antique circus theme. with a puppet theatre hiding the tv, on the coffee table a seat from a NY carousel, and roman shades with handpainted replicas of antique carnival sideshow banners, (I made myself. Thank you for looking. Bruce
