  • Elegant Master Bedroom/Bathroom Remodel, The master bedroom/bathroom in our 1986 builder grade home was in great need of an update and reconfiguration of the space.

Our GC did a fabulous job of transforming our vision for the room into reality. We re-allocated space from one closet into an expanded shower/toilet area; added a second walk-in closet in an under-utilized portion of the bedroom which also created a new wall for our wall-mounted flatscreen t.v.; added a gorgeous new custom vanity with White Carrara Marble countertop; updated the small windows on each side of the vanity to rain glass for privacy; changed out the two front bedroom windows to three efficient, single-hung windows; added radiant heated 18"x18" porcelain floor tile in American Olean Coliseum White; shower floor is AO Coliseum White mosaic; shower wall subway, harlequin, and classic tile is from the Daltile Rittenhouse Square series; and faucets, hardware, sink and toilet are from the Kohler Devonshire series.

I've laid out the following fifteen photos in a before/after sequence., Bathrooms Design

  • New York antiques in Oslo, An unusually shaped room which accomodates our piano perfectly. Super sunny, with a fireplace we designed from scratch, combining typical Norwegian heat-producing characteristics with a more typical American/English look. Furniture in classic-revival, remaissance-revival, gothic-revival, and rococo-revival styles. Art is all oil paintings, 2 snow scenes by James Coe (living), a wide Norwegian landscape by Ludvig Munthe, smaller unsigned landscapes, and still-lifes by me (somewhat in the style of Raphaelle Peale, and framed in antique frames). Window treatments are a riff on American designs from ca. 1830., Living Rooms Design

  • American Christmas, RED is my favorite color. I decided this year I would use the star as my inspiration for my Christmas Tree in the family room. White is also used on the tree and on other things in the room. The only blue I used was the star sitting next to the fireplace., Living Rooms Design

Home is decorated in primitive, early american, and colonial style. Master bedroom has new blue bedding chosen for calm relaxing benefits of blue color. Due to economy and the fact that we just painted the entire home ourselves, we cannot buy new bedroom furniture or bedding at this time. So, we would like to enhance our room decor without making a major investment. We need help with inspiration and ideas. The master bedroom has a large walk-in closet and attached master bathroom with seperate shower and whirlpool tub., Bedrooms Design

  • Open (lofty) Dining Room, My dining room area after I've added some decorative items, an area rug and nice drapes. I still plan on painting the walls a greyish color and possibly put a wide chocolate colored stripe around at chair rail height. I also plan on getting a drawer made to sit the server on. The server is actually a sofa table we're using as a server. What do you think?, Dining Rooms Design

  • Asymmetrical Kitchen Remodel, Before moving into this newly purchased home, the owners had an opportunity to remodel the kitchen. Built in 1990, this kitchen was compartmentalized and outdated. The island was too small and a bottleneck formed between the island and refrigerator. The owners wanted to open up the space to the living and dining areas.

Inspired by Mexican contemporary architecture, the kitchen was transformed. The tile backsplash, dark counters and small island were all removed. The florescent light box was swapped with cool pendants and recessed lighting. A new kitchen sink is now located under a new picture box window allowing views to the street. Overhead cabinets in a bright, fun hue and open wood shelving with accent lighting and decorative tile bring functionality to the space. The cooktop remains in the enlarged, asymmetrical island and now accommodates seating. Some appliances were updated and a new pantry with additional storage was constructed around the refrigerator. Finishing the look is new Brazilian Pecan hardwood flooring.

Now this family has an updated, contemporary kitchen that is open to the living spaces and can freely enjoy hosting friends and family.
