  • "To the Manor Born" Family Room, Our family room was designed to literally be the "heart of the home". It is adjacent to the kitchen and the breakfast/eating area flows to the formal dining room/butler's pantry as well as the entry hall. There are no hallways - just arched openings drawing you from one room to the next. We love it!, Living Rooms Design

  • michele's new kitchen, We built our new kitchen in our traditional 1980's Marietta home from the walls out. New semi-custom black cabinets, hard wood floors, glass tile, a farm sink and Icestone counter tops were installed. The back splash is a pale green square glass tile that is offset from the row above (like bricks) I found it on clearance at Floor and Decor for 1/2 the price of subway tile. It matched the recycled green wine bottles and oyster shells in the concrete countertops perfectly. , Kitchens Design

  • Guest Room, New Photos just added.

This is a Candice Olson inspired room for less than $1,000. In fact, my entire house is Candice Olson inspired! This small guest bedroom is only 10' x 11'. I have just finished decorating this space in my small California home. I have been decorating one room at a time.

I am a single, full-time dad to the most amazing and smartest preschooler ever who is my biggest joy and inspiration. By day, I am a full-time college professor, but my passion has become interior design. Sadly, this passion is limited by being on a teacher's budget!!! I must admit that I do find that scrimping and saving, and doing impossible things for little to no money is actually very satisfying. I save throughout the year, and as I have summers off, I spend summers working on the house. I am not a handyman by any stretch of the imagination. But, I am determined!

Since my daughter was born four years ago, I have worked hard to create a beautiful, happy space for her to grow up in. Before becoming addicted to Divine Design, I knew nothing about decorating or interior design. And, sadly, my house reflected that lack of design knowledge! On Divine Design, I saw beautiful spaces that I connected with like nothing I had ever seen before. I knew I wanted to be able to do that, too.

To that end, I have taken to seriously studying Divine Design, almost every night. I DVR all episodes, and watch them over and over and over and over. My quiet "me" time, after my daughter goes to bed, is spent watching Divine Design. It’s that time when the house is quiet, my little angel is sleeping, and I can relax, watching something that brings me a lot of joy. These are cozy times!

Candice has inspired my love of bling, including: glass, mirror, reflections, lighting and shimmery fabrics. She has inspired my appreciation for rich and varying textures, beautiful blues, and soothing color palettes as well as my passion for chandeliers. Watching Divine Design has helped me to create a special home for my daughter. Being able to do that means so much to me!

Even though I have a career and love what I do, I want to be just like Candice Olson when I grow up or when I retire from teaching and research-- whichever comes first!!!!

  • Amazing Victorian with wrap around porches, This 1885 home was made into a stucco two flat in 1917 (they ripped off the wrap around porches!). We brought the home back to a single family residence and replaced (and added to) the wrap-around porches. The home won a national historic preservation award for rehabilitation. We had the original corbels reproduced and added transoms to all of the first floor windows. The gazebo is an amazing place to sit and read a book., Home Exterior Design

  • Kade's Nursery, This is our first baby (born 04/23), in our first house, and is the first time we have gotten to paint/decorate anything. I didn't want to do a typical baby nursery with jungle animals, baby colors, or anything typical. I love the way that it turned out, and I hope Kade loves it too...All of the bedding was hand made by my wonderful mom...I told her I wanted many different black and white fabrics and a simple quilt pattern - she did amazing! The frog hanging on the wall, the rug, and the chair in the corner are all from Ikea - the chair cushions and rug matched PERFECTLY to the rest of his room. All of the black and white pictures on the walls were found online and printed off and framed...they are supposed to be good for newborns eye sight - the contrast between the black and white. I hope everyone enjoys., Nurseries Design
